The Skoda Slavia launch dates are officially out. Skoda Auto India on Thursday announced that the 1.0 liter TSI engine sedan will be launched in India on February 28, while the 1.5 liter powertrain option will be launched on March 3.
The announcement was made by Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, through his Twitter account earlier in the day. The mid-sized sedan will be available for test drives and deliveries to customers from the dates of launch, Hollis added.
The new Slavia started arriving for display at company showrooms across India from Feb 8 onward and is open for pre-bookings on the company’s official website. While the official price reveal is scheduled for next month, the vehicle is expected to be priced between Rs 10-16 lakh (ex-showroom).
Meanwhile, the Skoda Rapid, which the 2022 Slavia replaces, has been taken off the company’s official website.
The 2022 Slavia is built on the same platform as the Skoda Kushaq. It comes in two powertrain options: a 1.0 litre 3-cylinder turbopetrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbopetrol that churn out 115ps and 150PS respectively. The engines are mated with a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic or a 7-speed DSG transmissions.
The Skoda Slavia is 1752mm wide, making it the widest car in the premium mid-size sedan segment, the company claims. It also promises a class-leading 521-litres capacity storage space.
A 10-inch infotainment touchscreen sits on the front dashboard that also comes fitted with round AC vents. Safety features on the Skoda Slavia include six airbags, Anti-Lock Brakes, ESP, Multi-Collision Brake, ISOFIX anchors, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and air pressure sensors. Rear seat features include AC vents and dual USB ports.
Skoda expects the new Slavia to cement Skoda’s position in the premium market and also add fresh impetus to the dormant premium mid-size sedan segment in India. “With the Slavia, we are confident of putting the love back into sedans,” said Hollis in an earlier statement.
