In this day and age, the safety of a car is rapidly becoming a non-negotiable standard. In the Indian automotive space, Tata and Mahindra have already set high benchmarks by offering the safest cars and the grand success of cars like Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV700, Tata Punch, and Mahindra XUV300, is a fine demonstration of that. With rising awareness and demand for safety, four cars have recently been tested by GNCAP.

Honda Jazz Global NCAP Test ResultsHonda Jazz

Honda Jazz is one of the oldest cars in its segment, and scoring a 4-star safety rating for adults in the global NCAP test adds to its popularity. Moreover, test results prove it to have a strong body shell structure capable of withstanding greater loads. The head and neck protection for the front occupants is considerably good. However, the hatchback scored 3-stars for child protection probably due to the lack of ISOFIX anchors.

Honda City (4th gen) Global NCAP Test ResultsHonda City

The fourth generation of Honda City which sits below the current fifth generation has scored 4-star safety rating in both adult and child safety. While the test showed these promising ratings, there is marginal knee protection in the front section and body integrity was found unstable and incapable to withstand greater loads. With safety regulations  and standards becoming more stringent, the 4th gen Honda City’s safety score is still commendable.

Nissan Magnite Global NCAP Test ResultsNissan Magnite

Nissan Magnite bagged 4-star safety rating for adult safety, and 2-star rating for child safety since the base variant of Magnite misses ISOFIX anchors. Moreover, the protection for the driver and the front passenger was found to be good. The body integrity and vehicle footwell are also considered stable. But the protection for the driver’s chest and knees is marginal.

Renault Kiger Global NCAP Test ResultsRenault Kiger

Since the Renault Kiger shares its platform and many other mechanicals with the Nissan Magnite, it received a similar 4-star safety rating for adult safety, and 2-stars for child safety. Moreover, the bodyshell was found unstable and incapable of withstanding heavy loads. Just like Magnite, the protection for the driver’s chest and knees is marginal.
