South Korean car manufacturer Kia on Saturday announced that the Kia Carens will be launched on February 15. The much-anticipated 7-seater MUV, which will be made available with both diesel and petrol powertrains, was first unveiled in India in December last year.
Expected to be priced somewhere between Rs 18-20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kia Carens will come in five variants. All the variants will be equipped with safety features such as 6 Airbags, ABS, ESC, HAC, VSM, and DBC (Downhill Brake Control). The vehicle also boasts All-Wheel Disc Brakes, TPMS Highline and Rear Parking Sensors.

Other features include a 10.25” HD Touchscreen with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system. With the Kia Carens, you also get a multi-function steering wheel in what seems like a clear nod to other Kia bestsellers in India – the Sonet and the Seltos. The Carens also comes with an air purifier, 3 drive modes and a fully automatic temperature control system.
The Kia Carens offers multiple powertrain options, including a 1.4-litre T-GDi petrol engine mated with 7-speed DCT or 6-speed manual gearbox, a 1.5 petrol engine mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel engine available with 6-speed automatic and manual transmissions.
Kia sold 19,319 cars in January this year, with the Seltos doing most of the heavy-lifting for the manufacturer – the mid-sized SUV clocked sales of 11,483 units in the month.
