Tata Nexon CNG Launched at Rs 8.99 lakh

Tata Motors has finally launched the Tata Nexon CNG at a starting price of Rs. 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexon CNG is the first CNG car in India to be equipped with a turbocharged engine and the first CNG car in its segment to feature a panoramic sunroof. Moreover, now the Tata Nexon is the only car in India available in petrol, diesel, EV, and CNG versions. Here is a closer look at the Tata Nexon CNG.

Tata Nexon CNG: Features

The Tata Nexon CNG shares all its features with the ICE Nexon. However, its most captivating highlight is a panoramic sunroof, which is expected to feature in other versions of the Nexon soon. The other key features of the Tata Nexon CNG are a wireless charger, automatic headlamps, ventilated front seats, four speakers and tweeters, leatherette upholstery, and more.

Tata Nexon CNG: Safety

The safety kit of the Tata Nexon CNG includes a tyre pressure monitor, a 360-degree camera, six airbags (as standard), rain-sensing wipers, front parking sensors, an auto-dimming IRVM, and more. Moreover, since the Tata Nexon CNG is structurally the same as the ICE Tata Nexon, the 5-star G-NCAP safety rating of the standard Tata Nexon should hold true for the CNG models as well.

Tata Nexon CNG: Engine & Transmission

The Tata Nexon CNG shares its 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with the ICE Tata Nexon. However, with the CNG model, this engine generates 100 PS power, which is 20 PS less than the power figures of the ICE Tata Nexon, though the torque is the same at 170 Nm. As of now, the Tata Nexon CNG is available with only a 6-speed manual gearbox, but it is expected to feature an AMT automatic in future, as Tata is already offering an AMT with Tata Tiago CNG and Tata Tigor CNG. Moreover, like other Tata CNG cars, the Tata Nexon CNG comes with a dual-cylinder CNG kit which makes optimum use of the boot space, giving the Nexon CNG a 321-litre boot, only 61-litres less than the ICE Tata Nexon. The claimed mileage of the Tata Nexon CNG is 24 km/kg.

Tata Nexon CNG: Price & Rivals

Compared to their ICE counterparts, most Tata Nexon CNG variants are priced Rs 1 lakh higher. With these prices, the Tata Nexon CNG will rival the Maruti Brezza CNG (Rs. 9.29 lakh – 12.26 lakh) and Maruti Fronx CNG (Rs. 8.46 – 9.32 lakh).
