The all-electric Mini Cooper SE has a price tag of Rs.47.20 lakhs and bookings for the same are open. The Mini Cooper SE will come to India as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and the first batch will have only 30 units. The Mini Cooper SE is based on the 3-door hatchback and will have an electric motor and a battery in place of the traditional internal combustion engine.
While the silhouette is based on the original Mini Cooper there are major design changes like an E badge on the front grille, yellow accents on the side view mirrors and the rear bumper that has been redesigned as it doesn’t have to house the exhaust pipes. The wheels of Mini Cooper SE are what distinguish it from its siblings, these have a plug socket like asymmetrical design with yellow accents and look completely different.
The interiors of SE variant closely resemble the 3-door hatchback’s except for the instrument cluster that is fully digital and the first Mini to be equipped with one. The yellow accent is visible on the interiors as well, giving the interiors of the SE a distinctive appearance.
The Mini Cooper SE’s electric motor produces 184 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque from a 32.6 kW battery beneath the passenger seat and can reach 0-100 km/hour in 7.3 seconds. According to Mini the Cooper SE has a range of 235-270 kms and can be charged to 80% in 35 minutes through a 50kW charging point.
