SUV coupes are the latest fad when it comes to body styles on offer, and this trend seems to be making its way to luxury compact SUVs as well. Audi’s latest Q3 is now also available in a coupe body style known as the Audi Q3 Sportback. Priced at Rs 51.43 lakh, it is anything but cheap and carries a premium of over Rs 1 lakh over the standard Audi Q3. Here’s everything you need to know:
Audi Q3 Sportback Price
Variant | Audi Q3 | Audi Q3 Sportback |
Premium Plus | Rs 44.90 lakh | - |
Technology | Rs 50.40 lakh | Rs 51.43 lakh |
As you can see, the normal Q3 is priced at Rs 44.90 lakh for the base Premium Plus variant and Rs 50.40 lakh for the Technology variant. Meanwhile, the Audi Q3 Sportback has a price tag of Rs 51.43 lakh (ex-showroom), a premium of Rs 1.03 lakh. With that said, it is also important to note that the Sportback is only in the Technology variant along with the S-Line exterior styling package which makes it look sportier.
Audi Q3 Sportback Styling
The changes in styling are not obvious until you look at the side profile or the rear. The Q3 Sportback gets a sloping roofline with a different rear design that makes the SUV stand out from the rest. It adds more character to the normal Q3’s generic SUV styling with this new coupe-like rear design. Other changes include a new mesh grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, a revised bumper design, and the additional bits from the S-Line sterling kit.
Audi Q3 Sportback Powertrain
Apart from the coupe body style, the Sportback is identical to the normal Q3 under the hood. But that is not a bad thing since it gets the 2.0-litre TFSI turbo petrol engine that puts out a strong 190 PS/320 Nm coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Q3 Sportback also features an AWD system which also helps it sprint to 100kph in 7.3 seconds with a top speed of 220 kmph.
Audi Q3 Sportback Features
As with any Audi, the Q3 Sportback is also loaded with all the bells and whistles. Some of the highlights include a 10.1-inch infotainment system, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster, 180 Watt 10-speaker audio system, two-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, panoramic sunroof, six airbags, and more. There are also two colour options available from the interior trim – Okapi Brown and Pearl Beige.
Audi Q3 Sportback Summary
Interestingly, Audi is offering the new Sportback with a 5-year road assistance and an optional 5-year (2+3) warranty option for a limited time. The Audi Q3 is definitely priced steeply, but it is the first compact luxury SUV coupe and the only SUV coupe available in India. This makes it a niche offering that caters to buyers who wish to own something special and something that definitely stands out. It is an untapped market in India but considering how popular SUV coupes are abroad, it should also find takers in India.
The Q3 Sportback does not have any direct rivals as its competition is not available in the coupe format. The only other SUV coupe available is the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe which is priced way above the Q3 Sportback. Rivals to the standard Audi Q3 are the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Volvo XC40, and the BMW X1.
