The electric vehicle market in India has grown at a rapid pace and JSW MG Motor India has quickly established itself as a key player. Commonly known as MG, it offers electric vehicles that cater to a wide range of buyers. Originally a British brand, MG Motor India is jointly owned by Chinese automotive giant SAIC Motor and the Indian conglomerate JSW Group.
MG’s electric cars are built using the latest technology and offer a wide array of features. Furthermore, they are well suited for both city commuters and long distance drivers. The car maker is also actively working on introducing new electric vehicles in the Indian market, the kind of which aren’t offered by traditional car makers. To make things easier, we have put together this guide highlighting all the relevant information about the EVs currently sold by MG in India, as well as the models that will soon be going on sale.
MG Battery as a Service (BaaS)
You might have heard of the term BaaS or Battery as a Service when researching MG’s electric cars. It’s a new service that allows users to pay a reduced upfront price for the vehicle. MG has done this by removing the cost of the battery pack from the vehicle’s price, and instead, users can now pay for the battery pack in monthly installments depending upon their usage.
MG has tied up with finance companies to offer this solution. Some finance companies have a minimum running requirement whereas others offer the flexibility to pay based on the exact distance driven each month. This service is available for all electric vehicles sold by MG and the exact costs for each vehicle can be found on the MG India website.

MG Comet EV

The Comet EV is the smallest and least expensive electric vehicle sold by MG in India. It serves as the perfect vehicle for crowded urban environments, where bigger cars can often find themselves stuck in traffic jams. Its compact dimensions also make the MG Comet EV a great car for smaller towns in India, which traditionally have narrow lanes that are not accessible to modern cars due to their ever burgeoning size.
Despite its modest price tag and dimensions, the Comet EV delivers a great ownership experience. The design is modern and sleek, feeling right at home in an urban setting. Its dimensions might be compact, but there is abundant interior space on offer and taller passengers will especially find the headroom to their liking. However, while the two door design looks great, it does slightly take away from the practicality of the Comet EV.
The small EV is also well equipped. It gets a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen, both of which feature crisp graphics and a clean layout. Other important features include Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) and power adjustable ORVMs.
MG Comet EV Specifications

MG ZS EV

The ZS EV is a compact electric SUV sold by MG and in terms of size, it’s similar to the Hyundai Creta.
It was the first electric vehicle launched in India by MG Motor. The ZS EV is an all-round SUV which can take on city commutes and highway road trips while keeping the passengers inside cocooned in comfort. Unlike sportier SUVs, the ZS EV has a light steering wheel and excellent visibility, making it easier to drive.
For many, EVs can’t be the only car in the family because of range anxiety. However, the 461 km range of the ZS EV allows it to breach that threshold and with MG’s proactive approach to public charging infrastructure, the ZS EV definitely has the potential to be the only car in your garage. It is perfectly sized for both city commutes and road trips as well and the suspension of the ZS EV is tuned for comfort.
The ZS EV is equipped with the latest features such as a panoramic sunroof, 360 degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, 6 airbags, power adjustable driver seat and a 10.1 inch infotainment touchscreen. While it might be a compact SUV, the 176 PS and 280 Nm output from the single electric motor makes the ZS EV a fun electric SUV to drive.

- Charging Time: 9 hours (7.4 kW AC Charger), 1 hour (0 – 80% using 50 kW DC charger)

MG Windsor EV

Cars today look a lot like each other, but with the Windsor EV, MG has sought to break that monotony. While its dimensions might suggest that it is a compact SUV, the design suggests that it could be an MPV. However, once you step inside and find it to have two rows of seating, one has to concur that the Windsor EV is a crossover, and a great one at that.
While most EVs take pride in their instant acceleration, the Windsor EV is tuned to offer a more sedated driving experience. The quick acceleration is still there, however, it doesn’t surprise everyone else in the car. The Windsor EV also features a neat cabin layout, and MG has packed controls like the ORVM adjustment neatly inside the 15.6 inch touchscreen. It frees up the clutter inside the cabin, however, it does require an adjustment period before one is comfortable with this layout. The HVAC system can still be controlled using physical buttons.
The ownership experience of the Windsor EV is further heightened by the glass roof which offers a great view of the sky. It adds to the ambience of the cabin, making it feel highly airy. The second row of the Windsor EV offers best in class leg room and the backrest can be reclined up to 135 degrees, both of which offer great comfort.
MG Windsor EV Specifications
- Electric Motor: Single Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor
- Drivetrain Layout: Front Wheel Drive
- Range: 332 km (ARAI certified)
- Charging Time: 14 hours (3.3 kW AC charger), 6.5 hours (7.4 kW AC charger), 55 minutes (0 – 80% using 50 kW DC charger)

MG M9 (To be launched)

The M9 was shown by MG at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo and will soon be launched in India. It is a 5 metre long MPV that will be unlike any other EV on sale in India. Up until now, Indian car makers have shied away from offering such large EVs as their huge size makes them inefficient, however, MG seems to have solved that problem with the M9 offering an NEDC certified range of 540 km.
The M9 will come with highly luxurious captain seats, reminiscent of those in a first class aircraft cabin. The third row will seat three people, making it a 7 seater. The rear doors will feature a sliding function which not only looks more premium, but is safer as well. The upholstery will utilise genuine leather and there will be 64 colour ambient lighting as well to spruce up the cabin. The second row occupants will also have access to their individual touchscreen which will allow them to control various settings like the recline of the seats, individual climate control, and massage function.
The MG M9 is manufactured under the name MG Maxus 9 in Thailand, and we expect MG India to import the MPV from there. It is expected to be priced between Rs. 70 lakh to Rs. 80 lakh.
MG M9 Specifications
- Electric Motor: Single Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor
- Drivetrain Layout: Front Wheel Drive
- Range: 540 km (NEDC cycle)
- Charging Time: 9 hours (11 kW AC Charging), 36 minutes (10 – 80 % using 114 kW DC charger)

MG Cyberster (To be launched)

The Cyberter was also shown by MG India at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo and will soon be launched in India. While electric sports cars do already exist in India, the Cyberster will become the first convertible electric sports car to be sold here. Unlike other MG electric cars, the Cyberster will feature a dual motor layout, giving it AWD capabilities. It has an NEDC certified range of 503 km.
In the case of the Cyberster, MG has managed to blend the styling of its historic cars with the electric technology of its modern vehicles. The scissor doors that swivel upwards further add to the drama, giving the Cyberster a unique identity. With a total power output of 510 PS and 725 Nm, the MG Cyberster can sprint from 0 – 100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds.
Just like the M9, the MG Cyberster is manufactured in Thailand and will come to India through the CBU route. The Cyberster is expected to be priced between Rs. 70 lakh to Rs. 80 lakh, same as the M9.
