Hyundai Creta
As always, the Hyundai Creta led the Hyundai pack from the front and bagged the top spot by selling 14,026 units in March 2023. With these sales figures, the Hyundai Creta managed a growth of 33 percent over the 10,532 units it sold in March 2022. The Hyundai Creta is the best-ever-selling Hyundai car in India and outshines its rivals with the value it delivers for its asking price. While the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder have taken some sales away, the Hyundai Creta is still leading the segment by a significant margin.
Hyundai Venue
The Hyundai Venue normally remains the second best-selling Hyundai car every month, given it is an affordable alternative to the larger Creta. In March 2023, the Hyundai Venue collected sales of 10,024 units giving its sales a small 9 percent uptick over its performance during the same month last year. Receiving the facelift last year is also working well for the Hyundai Venue and with a refreshed design, lengthier feature list, and refined powertrain the Korean compact SUV is firmly holding onto its position.
Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS
For the longest time, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS has remained one of the best-selling Hyundai cars and to prevent it from getting dated, Hyundai has recently given it a facelift. The new Hyundai Grand i10 sold 9,304 units in March 2023 and while this is a 4 percent Y-O-Y decline, the sales figures are considered healthy. Unlike its predecessor which also features a diesel engine, the new Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is a petrol-only offering and offers up to 6 airbags (4 standard).
Hyundai i20
It has been an eventful life for the Hyundai i20 in India, with many additions and subtractions in its powertrains in earlier years. However, what remained is its rising popularity and the Korean premium hatchback still posts impressive sales figures every month. In March 2023, the Hyundai i20 registered sales of 6,596 units, gaining a 41 percent growth over the 4,693 units it sold in the corresponding month last year. The Hyundai i20 is the most spacious offering in its segment and delivers a smooth as well as exciting drive with a refined set of powertrains that include a turbo petrol engine.
Hyundai Aura
Inheriting the esteemed legacy of the Hyundai Xcent, the Hyundai Aura is a steady seller from the Korean carmaker. Like Grand i10 NIOS, the Hyundai Aura has recently been facelifted, receiving some feature additions (up to 6 airbags), and the deduction of the diesel engine. In March 2023, the Hyundai Aura managed sales of 3,774 units which is a unit less than the 3,775 units it sold in March 2022.
Hyundai Verna
If there is one car that has been able to challenge the dominance of the Honda City, it is the Hyundai Verna. In March 2023, the Hyundai Verna sold 3,775 units, seeing a staggering 137 percent year-on-year growth. Since its launch in 2006, the Hyundai Verna has carved a niche of its own and has an unshakable fanbase in India. All the same, like every other sedan across the world, the Hyundai Verna is suffering the eclipse of growing SUV fandom. But the latest generation Verna that was launched towards the end of March is a bright ray of hope and is expected to boost its sales to all new levels.
Hyundai Alcazar
Clocking sales of 2,519 units in March 2023, the Hyundai Alcazar saw a 1 percent uptick over the 2,502 units it sold during the same period last year. The Hyundai Alcazar is the 7-seater derivative of the Hyundai Creta and is powered by a refined set of powertrains that include a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Though it is a feature-laden offering, the Hyundai Alcazar has not really fared well in the market, given the availability of more spacious 7-seater options available in the market, such as Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and MG Hector.
Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai’s flagship model, Tucson sold 518 units in March 2023, seeing an exponential 433 percent growth over the 109 units it sold in March 2022. The boost in sales can be accredited to the arrival of the fourth-generation Tucson which was launched in August 2022. The Hyundai Tucson is the only SUV in the segment to feature Level-2 ADAS safety features that include blind-spot monitoring and collision avoidance, auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist and lane-keep assist, and others.
