The popular Korean carmaker Hyundai is the second largest car brand in India. It set up its business on Indian soil before any other foreign car brand and has built an esteemed reputation over the years. In the dynamic automobile landscape of the Indian market, the Hyundai cars are known for their refinement, reliability, and eye-catching designs. As far as sales are concerned, most Hyundai cars do well every month, and so was the case last month. Here are the top 10 selling Hyundai cars for January 2025.

Hyundai Creta
![Spinny 2024 Hyundai Creta](https://www.spinny.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Spinny-2024-Hyundai-Creta.webp)
The Hyundai Creta is the best-selling SUV and Hyundai’s best-ever-selling car in India. Both these titles are quite heavy and show how well the Creta has catered to the modern Indian expectations from a mid-size SUV. The latest avatar of the Creta, which was launched earlier this year, has been doing a great job in maintaining its unmatchable dominance and today, it’s the only car to feature among the top 10 selling cars. In January 2025, the Hyundai Creta sold 18,522 units and gained a 36 percent year-on-year growth over the 13,212 units it had sold during the same month in 2024. The reason the Hyundai Creta sells so well is the astonishing value it delivers, taking its features, refinement, engine options, reliability, comfort, and convenience into account. Meanwhile, what added to the last month’s sales figures is the Hyundai Creta Electric, which was launched last month.
The Hyundai Creta comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. The NA engine and diesel engine are offered with a six-speed manual as standard while there is an option of a six-speed CVT automatic for the NA engine and a torque converter automatic for the diesel engine. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine comes with a 7-speed DCT automatic.
The Hyundai Creta Electric is powered by two battery packs: a 42 kWh pack and a 51.4 kWh pack, which offer ranges of 390 km and 473 km, respectively.

Hyundai Venue
![Spinny Assured Hyundai Venue](https://d2m3nfprmhqjvd.cloudfront.net/blog/20230505133711/Spinny-Assured-Hyundai-Venue-1160x653.webp)
In the Hyundai SUV line-up, the Hyundai Venue compact SUV is slotted right below the Hyundai Creta. Sitting at a more accessible price point, the Venue comes in as a great alternative to the Creta, especially for those looking for a premium Hyundai SUV but can’t stretch their budget to own a Creta. Like its older sibling, the Hyundai Venue drives refined, offers a host of upmarket features, and is a dependable family car. All the same, the Hyundai Venue has several capable rivals, including its sibling, Kia Sonet. Tough competition from these rivals has been impacting Venue’s sales for a significant while. In January 2025, the Hyundai Venue sold 11,106 units and registered a slight 6 percent year-on-year decline.
The Hyundai Venue comes with multiple powertrain options. A 1.2-litre petrol engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual, a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Hyundai Exter
![Spinny Assured Hyundai Exter](https://www.spinny.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Spinny-Assured-Hyundai-Exter-1160x653.webp)
The smallest of Hyundai SUVs, Hyundai Exter, is over a year old in the market, and it’s fair to say it’s been a significant success. Based on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, the Exter is largely the same package in the SUV form. Thanks to the SUV body type and Hyundai’s precise design, the Exter offers good space in its cabin, especially headroom. This, combined with a host of features and the tried and trusted 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa engine, has made the Exter an appealing micro-SUV that easily fits into the urban lifestyle. On the sales front, while the popularity has declined in recent months, the SUV is doing decent business. In January 2025, the Exter sold 6,068 units, seeing a 26 percent year-on-year decline.
Hyundai offers the Exter with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that transmits power via either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. Like the Grand i10 Nios and the Aura, the Exter is also available in CNG variants that deliver a mileage of 27.1 km/kg while its petrol mileage is 19.4 km/l.

Hyundai Aura
![2023 Hyundai Aura facelift](https://d2m3nfprmhqjvd.cloudfront.net/blog/20230124191132/2023-Hyundai-Aura-1160x653.webp)
The successor of the iconic Hyundai Xcent, Hyundai Aura is a capable family sedan under Rs. 10 lakh. With a good wealth of features, adequate comfort, and the tried and trusted powertrains, the Aura offers a fantastic value for its asking price. Like the pair of Maruti Swift and Maruti Dzire, the Hyundai Aura, which is the sedan derivative of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, is a worthy offering for someone who prefers a sedan to a hatchback. In terms of sales, Aura performs decently every month and in January 2025, it managed to sell 5,388 units, which gave it a meagre 2 percent year-on-year decline.
The Hyundai Aura is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. It delivers a mileage of 17 km/l from petrol and 22 km/kg from CNG.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

Following the Hyundai Aura is its hatchback counterpart, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The Korean hatchback is Hyundai’s entry-level offering in India, but hardly anything about it is entry-level. With stylish looks and a good wealth of features, the Grand i10 Nios offers a premium experience expected of a Hyundai car. Moreover, it’s a dependable hatchback and claims a good resale value in the used car market. For a long time, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios has been a strong challenger to the reign of the Maruti Swift at the top, and so is the case even now. In January, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios raked in sales of 5,311 units, and while this translated into a 23 percent drop in year-on-year sales, it was still one of the best-selling hatchbacks.
Under the hood, the Grand i10 Nios brings a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. Moreover, like the Maruti Swift, the Grand i10 Nios is available in CNG-powered variants. With CNG the Grand i10 Nios deliver a mileage of 28 km/kg while its petrol mileage is up to 20.7 km/l.
Hyundai i20
![Hyundai i20](https://www.spinny.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Hyundai-i20-exterior-1160x653.webp)
The stylish Korean premium hatchback Hyundai i20 has a sporty air about it that’s hard to overlook. Not only does it look sporty, but it also feels sporty on the inside in the overall setting. With the largest cabin and most feature-rich package in its segment, the i20 shines brighter than most other hatchbacks in India. Meanwhile, the i20 is the longest-running premium hatchback and one of the most successful Hyundai cars in India. In addition to the standard i20, Hyundai sells the sportier Hyundai i20 N Line, offering a more exciting car in the segment. However, the burgeoning popularity of SUVs is taking a toll on every other body type’s popularity and the Hyundai i20 is no exception. In January 2025, the Hyundai i20 sold 4,741 units, seeing a 33 percent decline in its year-on-year sales.
In the i20 line-up, the standard i20 is offered with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic, while the i20 N Line comes with a 1-litre turbo petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DCT automatic.

Hyundai Verna
![Black Hyundai Verna](https://www.spinny.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/file-ezgif.com-resize-1-1160x653-1.webp)
Launched in 2006, the Hyundai Verna has spent quite a long time in India. Over the years, it has built a respectable legacy and posed a strong challenge to the iconic Honda City. In fact, today, the Hyundai Verna sells more units than the Honda City, while the sedan segment as a whole is ailing because the masses largely prefer SUVs over sedans. In January 2025, the Hyundai Verna sold 1,477 units and saw a 32 percent decline from the 2,712 units it had sold during the same month in 2024. All the same, the Verna today is in its most capable form. It’s the most powerful and feature-rich car in its segment and the first Hyundai car ever to receive a full 5-star G-NCAP rating, which has made it one of the safest cars in India.
The Hyundai Verna is powered by two engines: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard, while the NA engine is available with an optional CVT automatic, and the turbo engine is available with an optional 7-speed DCT automatic.
Hyundai Alcazar
![Hyundai 7 Seater Car - Hyundai Alcazar](https://www.spinny.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/2024-Hyundai-Alcazar.webp)
The seven-seater derivative of the Hyundai Creta, the Hyundai Alcazar, has not seen the success Hyundai aimed for. But that doesn’t make it a poor car. Considering the powertrains that it shares with the Hyundai Creta and its feature package, the Alcazar is a worthy offering for many. For example, the Alcazar offers premium perks like a Level-2 ADAS safety suite, the Ottoman function for the middle row, a Bose sound system, and a panoramic sunroof at considerably affordable prices. The only downside of the Alcazar is the limited room in the rearmost seats, and if someone can put with that, it’s a peach of an SUV for most requirements. After the recent facelift, the Hyundai Alcazar has seen some rise in its popularity and the latest sales figures are a testament to that. In January 2025, the Hyundai Alcazar sold 1,310 units, which was a 28 percent year-on-year decline.
The Hyundai Alcazar is available with the same engines as before. It gets a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. A 6-speed manual is available as standard with both engines, while the turbo-petrol engine comes with the option of a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic transmission), and the diesel engine gets an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Hyundai Tucson
![Hyundai Tucson](https://d2m3nfprmhqjvd.cloudfront.net/blog/20220228144239/new-Hyundai-Tucson-1160x653.jpg)
The premium Korean 5-seater SUV, Hyundai Tucson, is one of a kind. Whether its features, comfort, or powertrains, the Tucson packs enough to challenge even luxury cars. Moreover, recently, Tucson received a full 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP safety test, which spells how reassuring it is as a premium Hyundai SUV. All the same, sales-wise, Tucson has not been doing great business lately. In January 2025, Tucson sold only 64 units, which was a 65 percent decline in its year-on-year performance.
The Hyundai Tucson offers two engines. A 2-litre turbo diesel engine and a 2-litre petrol engine. The diesel engine is available with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, while the petrol engine gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The top-end diesel engines can also be had with an all-wheel-drivetrain (AWD).
