For a long time, Maruti Suzuki has been the most popular and best-selling car brand in India, thanks to its long lineup of cars and extensive dealership network. The Indo-Japanese auto giant keeps a firm hold on nearly 40 percent share of the entire Indian automobile market. Meanwhile, as Maruti cars prevail over other cars, there is internal competition among Maruti cars. While the top performers usually remain the same, their rankings do shuffle at the end of every month. Like every month, more than half of the best-selling cars were Maruti cars in March 2025, while their sibling-to-sibling contest presented some interesting figures. Here are the best-selling Maruti cars of March 2025.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

Spinny Used Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Maruti Swift has been one of the most radical successes of the Indian automobile industry, and for the foreseeable future, it’s always going to be one of the best-selling cars. Sitting right above the Wagon R in the Maruti portfolio, the Swift comes in as the most appealing option for buyers looking for a family car, which delivers great mileage and yet cannot be called a budget car. This is because it’s the most spacious car in its segment, looks stylish, and drives smoothly. What comes as a bonus is the peppy performance, which, at the price of the Swift, is an appealing perk for driving enthusiasts. In March 2025, the Maruti Swift sold 17,746 units, and with such sales, it registered a 13 percent growth in sales compared to the 15,728 units it sold in March 2024.

This Maruti Swift comes with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox and 5-speed AMT. Moreover, it delivers a lucrative mileage of 24.8 km/l with MT and 25.75 km/l with AMT, and 32.85 km/kg with CNG variants.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

The longest-running Maruti car, the Maruti Wagon R, has been one of the best-selling cars in India for decades. Playing a huge role in establishing Maruti as the market leader, the Wagon R has always been recognised as a unique hatchback, especially due to its tall-boy stature. This design makes it look both big and practical – a combination most fancy in an affordable hatchback. Along with affordability, the Wagon R offers pocket-friendly ownership with its excellent mileage and low maintenance cost. Moreover, like Dzire, Wagon R is a popular choice among cab companies, which greatly adds to its overall sales. As per the latest record, Wagon R sold 17,175 units in March 2025 and seeing a meagre 5 percent growth in its year-on-year sales, it stands as one of the best-selling Maruti cars as well as one of the best-selling cars.

Maruti has equipped the Wagon R with two petrol units: a 1-litre petrol engine and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. While both engines are coupled with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT, an optional CNG kit is also available with the 1-litre engine, which comes with only a manual Transmission. The Maruti Wagon R delivers a mileage of 25.19 km/l from petrol and 34.05 km/kg from CNG.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

A big car which can comfortably accommodate seven passengers, drives smoothly, and delivers a mileage which makes its owner smile. This is what an average Indian wants from an MUV and clearly illustrates why Maruti Ertiga is such a huge success. Over the years, the Indo-Japanese has proven itself as one of the best family cars, with its strongest appeal residing in its reliability and durability. An insurmountable popularity makes Ertiga sell in great numbers and finish way ahead of all its rivals at the end of every month. In March 2025, the Ertiga sold 16,804 units, and with this, it saw a 13 percent growth in year-on-year sales.

Powering the Ertiga is a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild hybrid technology. The transmission options available consist of a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission. In terms of mileage, the Ertiga runs 20.51 km/l on petrol and 26.11 km/kg on CNG.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza

Spinny Maruti Suzuki Brezza

The Maruti Brezza has always been one of the best-selling compact SUVs in India and has done great business for the Indo-Japanese auto giant. In March 2025, it sold 16,546 units and registered a 13 percent growth over the 14,614 units it sold in March 2024. Launched in 2016, the Brezza is currently the longest-running compact SUV, and across its term, it has remained in high demand, thanks to the burgeoning popularity of compact SUVs and the reliability and trust of the Maruti badge. However, the Brezza doesn’t boast only its brand image. It’s an appealing, well-rounded package and strikes the right balance between space, comfort, features, and a refined drive with respect to its price tag. Moreover, the Brezza also gets the advantage of being available in CNG variants.

Maruti offers the Brezza with a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Moreover, with the mild-hybrid tech standard in all variants, the Brezza returns a mileage of 17.38 – 19.8 km/l and 25.51 km/kg with CNG.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire

New Maruti Dzire

The most popular sedan in India, Maruti Dzire, managed to sell 15,460 units in March 2025, which was a 3 percent drop from the 15,894 units it had sold in the same month last year. However, it is still the best-selling sedan in India and way ahead of its rivals in terms of sales. In competition with the likes of the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor, the Maruti Dzire offers a great deal of comfort, easy handling, and lucrative fuel efficiency, making it an appealing compact sedan for city roads. Meanwhile, the latest Maruti Dzire is the first Maruti car to score a 5-star rating on the Global NCAP safety test, and with this, it became one of the safest cars in India.

The Maruti Dzire is powered by the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine from the Maruti Swift. This engine delivers a mileage of 24.79 km/l with a petrol-manual powertrain, 25.71 km/l from a petrol-AMT powertrain, and 33.73 km/kg on CNG, which is available with only manual transmission.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Spinny Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Maruti Fronx SUV has spent nearly two years in the market and without a shadow of a doubt, the car has been on a glorious run since day one in the market. This proved that Maruti’s decision to position a car between Baleno and Brezza was well-founded. One of these two, Baleno, is the parent of Fronx. Due to this, Fronx brings the most desired aspects of an SUV, such as the macho appeal and higher riding stance, and seamlessly merges them into the convenience of a hatchback. This package has hit the bull’s eye as Fronx is pulling strong volume consistently, and last month was no different. In March 2025, Fronx put up a figure of 13,669 units on the overall sales chart and registered a growth of 9 percent over the sales it did in March 2024.

The Fronx comes with a 1.0-litre turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine and a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine from Baleno. Both engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while there is a 5-speed AMT for the NA engine and a 6-speed torque converter automatic for the turbo engine. Like most Maruti cars, the Fronx is also available in CNG variants that come with a 5-speed manual transmission and deliver a mileage of 28.51 km/kg.

With over 1.5 million units sold in nearly 9 years, the Maruti Baleno has scripted an incredible success story. The popular Indo-Japanese premium hatchback is a hot choice in its segment, courtesy of its spacious and feature-rich cabin that offers a premium passenger experience and frugal powertrains that make it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in India. All the same, March 2025 did not prove to be a healthy month for the Baleno, as the popular premium hatchback saw a 21 percent decline in its year-on-year performance. Still, with sales of 12,357 units, the Baleno finished far ahead of its rivals and grabbed a respectable position on the list of the best-selling Maruti cars as well as the best-selling cars.

The Maruti Baleno is equipped with a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT and is also available in CNG-powered variants. As far as mileage is concerned, the Baleno delivers 22.94 km/l from petrol and 30.61 km/kg from CNG.
