BYD Sealion 7 Launched at Rs. 48.90 lakh

The world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, BYD, has launched their flagship electric SUV, BYD Sealion 7 in India at a starting price of Rs 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Nearly a month ago, the BYD Sealion 7 was exhibited at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 to garner consumer attention and now that it has been launched, all details about the Chinese electric SUV have been revealed. The BYD Sealion 7 is BYD’s fourth product in India after BYD eMAX 7, BYD Atto 3, and BYD Seal. Let’s take a closer look at what the BYD Sealion 7 has to offer.

BYD Sealion 7: Dimensions & Design

The BYD Sealion 7 is 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, boot space of 500 litres, and frunk (front boot) of 58 litres. With a crossover silhouette, the BYD Sealion 7 gets the same design language as the BYD Seal. At the front, there is a closed-off grille, dipping nose, and sharp LED headlamps. On the side, the BYD Sealion 7 features flush door handles, a sloping roofline giving it a coupe-SUV look, and 19-inch alloy wheels for the Premium variant and 20-inch alloy wheels for the Performance variant. At the back, it gets connected LED tail lights with pixel design elements and rear LED fog lamps.

BYD Sealion 7: Interior & Features

Similarities with the BYD Seal carry on to the interior, especially the dashboard and steering wheel. Taking centre stage on the inside is a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, which houses the infotainment and climate control functions. Housing this display at its centre is a gloss black panel running the length of the dashboard. The centre console features a drive selector knob, buttons for drive and terrain modes, two cup holders, and is extendable to form the front centre armrest.  Moreover, the BYD Sealion 7 gets a 4-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and seats are garbed in black leatherette upholstery. All seats come with 3-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests, while the rear seat passengers also get AC vents and a centre armrest. 

In terms of features, the BYD Sealion 7 packs a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch heads-up display, dual-zone climate control, a 50-watt wireless phone charger, a panoramic glass roof, a powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way adjustable lumbar support and memory function, a 6-way electrically adjustable front passenger seat, vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging functions, and more.

For safety equipment, the BYD Sealion 7 features 11 airbags (as standard), a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, disc brakes on all wheels, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, and more. It also features the Level-2 ADAS safety suite which consists of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Emergency Lane Keeping Assist (ELKA), Forward Collision Warning Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Intelligent Speed Limit Control (ISLC) Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Front Cross Traffic Brake (FCTB), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA ),  Rear Cross Traffic Brake (RCTB), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Door Open Warning (DOW), High Beam Assist (HBA), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW).

BYD Sealion 7: Battery & Range

The BYD Sealion 7 is available in two variants: Premium and Performance. While both variants are powered by an 82.56kWh LFP low-voltage battery pack, there is a considerable difference between the power outputs of both variants. The Premium variant produces 313 PS and 380 Nm and comes with a rear-wheel-drive configuration. Whereas, the Performance variant has an all-wheel drive set-up, which produces 530 PS and 690 Nm. For Premium and Performance variants, BYD claims a 0 to 100 km/hr sprint time of 6.7 seconds and 4.5 seconds respectively. Meanwhile, the claimed ranges of the Premium and Performance variants are 567 km and 542 km respectively.

BYD Sealion 7: Price & Rivals

The Premium and Performance variants of the BYD Sealion 7 are priced at Rs 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 54.9 (ex-showroom) respectively. With such prices, the BYD Sealion 7 will rival the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo C40 Recharge.
