The French automaker is all set to expand its portfolio and has confirmed the launch of the Citroën C3 in the Indian market by the end of the first half of 2022. This will be the brand’s second product on Indian soil, with the first one being the Citroën C5 Aircross.
The 3.98 meter C3 is best classified as a cross-hatchback, with appealing exteriors that include high ground clearance, a lofty bonnet, and an elevated driving position. The 2022 Citroën C3 has the signature double slat grille at the front along with a pair of split-LED headlamps. The logo is skillfully incorporated in the grille making it seamless as it melds with the LED Daytime Running Lamps in the headlamp cluster.
Citroën C3 cabin space features are yet to be disclosed, however, it is anticipated that its interiors would feature a 3-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls and a large infotainment display. Additionally, this hatchback would also have both horizontal and vertical vents on the sides as well as in the center, a digital instrument cluster, and much more.
While Citroën powertrain details haven’t been revealed yet, it is expected to be powered by a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Citroën C3 is built on the CMP modular platform which is perfectly made for Indian roads. More than 90 percent of components are locally sourced from India, making it cost-efficient.
Citroën plans on targeting a more affordable market segment for its second car in India. The Citroën C3 is expected to be priced competitively against the Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, and the Tata Punch.
