For Indian drivers, waiting in big lines at toll plazas, searching for change, and handling cash payments have always been an inconvenience. Understanding these difficulties, the government developed FASTag in 2014 under the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) system. FASTag has not only eased traffic but also accelerated highway travel and made toll payments automatic with the help of RFID technology. In fact, from February 2021, it became mandatory for all vehicles in India to have a FASTag.

Choosing the right FAST tag might be daunting because so many banks and financial organizations provide it; this is where the SBI FASTag stands as a good option. Presented by the reputable State Bank of India, it offers a consistent, safe, and simple way for digital toll payments. Want to know more? Discover all you need to know about SBI FASTag, including how to apply, recharge, manage your account, and contact SBI FASTag customer service in this detailed guide.

FAQs

  1. Q. How does the SBI FAStag work?

Upon receipt of the SBI FAStag, you have to activate it by linking it to your SBI account or a prepaid wallet. Fix the FAStag on the windshield of your vehicle under the rear-view mirror. It should be visible so the data readers at the toll plazas can scan it properly. When you drive through a designated SBI FAStag lane, the tag is scanned, and toll charges are automatically debited from the account, which you are notified about via SMS. Thus, you don’t have to wait in line or pay with cash anymore.

  2. Q. What if the SBI FAStag gets lost or misplaced in cases of car thefts?

The first step is to lodge an FIR with the local police and then get in touch with the SBI FAStag customer care team. They will immediately block the tag to prevent unauthorized usage. You also need to contact the bank with a written request if you wish to surrender or cancel the SBI FAStag.

  3. Q. Should you get a monthly SBI FAStag pass?

If you travel through a specific toll plaza regularly, it is advisable to buy a monthly SBI FAStag pass. Any POS station of SBI bank will issue a FAStag pass. All you have to do is visit the facility, request a monthly pass, complete the formalities, and collect it.

  4. Q. What if the SBI FAStag gets damaged?

You have to request the bank to issue a new tag right away. Your balance remains intact and will be transferred to the new account when the new tag gets activated.

  5. Q. What if the scanner doesn’t read the SBI FAStag?

At times, the scanner might be unable to detect the SBI FAStag if it isn’t attached properly, or the scanner is malfunctioning. Tollbooth officials could alternatively use handheld devices, but if the issues persist, you have to pay cash. You can contact the SBI FAStag customer care team or visit a POS for a resolution free of charge.
