Honda has launched the facelifted Honda City at Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) to help maintain their lead in the mid-size sedan segment. The Honda City has been ruling its segment for decades and is among the most iconic cars in India. While the arrival of competitors like Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus has intensified the competition, this facelift puts the Honda City in a good position to compete. Here is everything you need to know about the new Honda City.
2023 Honda City Facelift: Exterior
As far as looks are concerned, there are some minor updates. The face of the facelifted Honda City features a slimmer chrome bar, however, the slim LED headlamps are similar to the ones on the pre-facelift model. The updated grille now features a honeycomb pattern on higher variants and vertical slats on lower variants. The side profile is unchanged, except for a fresh design for the alloy wheels. At the rear, Honda has repositioned the reflectors that are now integrated into a faux skid plate, and they have also mounted a spoiler on the trunk. However, the split LED tail lamps remain unchanged.
2023 Honda City Facelift: Interior and Features
Like the pre-facelift model, the interior of the new Honda City features a beige and black theme for the petrol variants and an ivory and black theme for the hybrid variants. Moreover, there aren’t any changes in the layout, upholstery, and switchgear.
In terms of features, the biggest update is the addition of ADAS features which were previously limited to the Honda City Hybrid. Interestingly, the Honda City gets ADAS features in manual variants too, as more often than not, only automatic variants are equipped with ADAS tech. The Honda City’s ADAS safety suite consists of adaptive cruise control, auto high beam assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and others. Apart from this, all the features have been carried over and the new Honda City will continue to offer an 8-inch touchscreen system, electric sunroof, cruise control, digital instrument cluster, tyre-pressure monitoring system, rain-sensing wipers, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, rear camera, and up to six airbags.
2023 Honda City Facelift: Engine and Transmission
With this facelift, Honda has discontinued the diesel engine ahead of upcoming Real Driving Emission (RDE) norms. The facelifted Honda City comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which makes 121 PS power and 145 Nm peak torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Furthermore, there is the popular 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid unit, making 126 PS power and 253 Nm peak torque, paired with an eCVT transmission.
Honda has also added new entry-level variants: SV to City’s variant line-up, and now the Honda City is available in four trims – SV, V, VX, and ZX. The SV trim comes with only a manual transmission, while every other variant gets an option of a CVT gearbox. Moreover, this facelift has also added an entry level V trim to the Honda City Hybrid variants.
The Honda City facelift has a claimed mileage of 17.8 km/l from manual petrol variants, 18.4 km/l from automatic petrol variants, and 27.13 km/l from hybrid variants.
For both regular and hybrid Honda City, Honda is offering a 3-year/unlimited kilometre warranty. The warranty can be extended up to 5 years. Moreover, Honda is offering an 8-year/1,60,000km warranty on the lithium-ion battery of the Honda City Hybrid.
