The Budget focuses on infrastructure and EVs
The 2022 Budget presented by the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, was focused on setting the blueprint for India’s growth for the next 25 years. With regard to the automotive industry, the government announced a focus on new battery swapping policies to make electric vehicles more affordable. Additionally, the government announced that it would expand the highway network by 25,000 km within 2022 and 2023.

Tata Nexon steals the show while Skoda, Nissan gains momentum
Sales figures for the first month of 2022 was sweet for some car makers and bitter for others. While Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Honda experienced a drop in their sales from the previous month, Tata Motors, Skoda India, and Nissan gained significantly on the basis of their fresh launches. The Tata Nexon drove a significant portion of the sales for Tata Motors while the Skoda Kushaq and Nissan Magnite contributed to their respective manufacturers.

Kia Carens launches at a competitive price
Kia India launched the Kia Carens at a very aggressive launch price of Rs. 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new 7-seater MUV features the longest wheelbase in the segment, a useable third row, and comfort-focused features.
