South Korean automaker Kia unveiled the Kia KA4 which is essentially the fourth generation Kia Carnival at the Auto Expo 2023 today. The new Kia KA4 is already on sale in some international markets, however, the Indian-spec model has only been put on display. With its launch expected in 2023, the fourth-gen Carnival is sure to pull a spate of buyers with its SUV-inspired styling and more tech on offer. Let’s take a closer look at what the Kia KA4 is bringing to India.
Kia KA4: Exterior
With a length of 5,156 mm, the new KA4 is slightly longer than previous-generation Kia Carnival which is 5,115 mm long, and significantly longer than the recently launched Toyota Innova Hycross which is 4,755 mm long.
The Kia KA4 wears more of an SUV-like attire, due to its angular lines and a squared-off stance. The front fascia features the traditional ‘Tiger Nose’ grille with a diamond pattern, flanked by sleek headlights and LED fog lamps below. The prominent chrome treatment at the lower air intake and a faux skid plate make the face more SUV-like. There’s a prominent character line that runs the length of the MPV linking its headlamps and tail lamps. While there is a brushed aluminium trim on the C-pillar, the A, B and D-pillars are finished in black. The Rear end features horizontal tail-lamps connected by an LED light bar.
Kia KA4: Interior and Features
As compared to the existing Carnival, the Kia KA4 is far more modern on the inside and has a minimalistic layout with two 12.3-inch displays taking the centre stage in the front portion. The middle seats can be swivelled to face the rear seats to create a lounge-like space. In typical Kia fashion, Kia has generously loaded the new MPV with high-end features like powered front seats, a wireless charger and a premium sound system. Moreover, it also sports ADAS technology and multiple airbags making the premium MUV as safe as possible. Globally, the Kia KA4 is offered in 7, 9 and 11-seat configurations, and the same can be expected for India.
Kia KA4: Powertrains
In foreign markets, the KA4 is offered with two engine options – 2.2-litre diesel and a 3.5-litre petrol engine. For India, Kia is likely to offer it with a 2.2-litre diesel engine mated with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which is the same as the existing Carnival.
