While most carmakers aim to tap every segment, Mahindra banks on its prowess of making formidable SUVs. Established as the largest SUV manufacturer, the Indian carmaker has only SUVs in its line-up. With the ever-growing demand for SUVs, Mahindra stands as one of the front runners in the industry and has built a prestigious reputation over the years. In November 2024, most Mahindra cars saw significant growth compared to their sales in November 2023. Here is a look at the top-selling Mahindra cars in November 2024.

Mahindra Scorpio
Decades have gone by but no car has ever been able to match the status of the Mahindra Scorpio. Whether it is the convoy of politicians or the police cars, everyone trusts the Scorpio, making it one of the most preferred cars when it comes to serious business. With its reliability, durability, sturdy body and esteemed legacy, this Indian SUV has always been one of the top selling SUVs in India. In November 2024, the Mahindra Scorpio sold 12,704 units, becoming the second best-selling SUV as well as one of the top selling cars in India. These sales figures helped Scorpio gain a 4 percent growth over the 12,185 units it sold in November 2023. Today, the Scorpio has two SUVs under its badge. The older one, Scorpio Classic has been Mahindra’s second-best selling car of all time and has etched its name among the most iconic cars in India. The new Scorpio, named Scorpio N, was launched in 2022 and has been a groundbreaking success from day one.
As far as engines are concerned, the Scorpio Classic comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the Scorpio N is powered by the same 2-litre diesel engine in two different tuned forms and a 2-litre turbo petrol engine. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, while the more powerful diesel engine and the petrol engine also get the option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Mahindra XUV700
Since its inception, the XUV700 has been a sensation. The Indian SUV delivers excellent ride comfort complemented by almost zero cabin noise and is well-equipped with cutting-edge features. It is as easy to drive as a hatchback, which is surprising considering its size and weight. Moreover, with the segment’s most powerful engines, the XUV700 delivers an exhilarating drive, while its strong body rated 5-star by Global NCAP is highly reassuring. While the XUV700 was launched with 5- and 7-seater variants, Mahindra added 6-seater variant earlier this year, adding to its versatility. All of this makes the XUV700 the most value-for-money car under Rs 30 lakh and one of the best seven-seater cars in India. On the latest sales chart, the XUV700 posted a figure of 9,100 units which translated into a 26 percent year-on-year growth.
Mahindra has equipped the XUV700 with two powerful engines: a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. On the higher end of the variant line-up, the XUV700 offers an optional all-wheel drive with a diesel automatic powertrain.
Mahindra Thar
For decades, Mahindra Thar has remained the overwhelming favourite of off-roading enthusiasts. As the inheritor of the iconic Willy CJ-3B Jeep that was launched in 1953, the Mahindra Thar is almost as old as India, and through the ages, the Indian 4×4 SUV has earned an unwavering cult. While the Thar is innately an off-roader, and an esteemed one at that, over time, it has become a style statement especially due to its macho aura.
Recently Mahindra has made the Thar portfolio even more dominant with the launch of the 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx. The Mahindra Thar Roxx is significantly larger, more practical, and more comfortable than the regular 3-door Mahindra Thar, which makes it a better offering from a family travelling standpoint. Last month, both 3-door Thar and 5-door Thar Roxx sold 8,708 units, which was a 50 percent growth over the sales Thar did in the same month in 2023.
Mahindra offers the 3-door Thar with a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 2.2-litre diesel engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. While the 2-litre turbo-petrol engine and 2.2-litre diesel engine come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic torque converter, the 1.5-litre diesel engine gets a 6-speed manual transmission only. All variants come with a 4-wheel-drive as standard, except for the ones with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which comes with a rear-wheel-drive.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available with the same 2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine but with a higher state of tune. Both engines have a 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic 6-speed torque converter. While the petrol and diesel variants come with an RWD drivetrain as standard, the diesel variant also gets an optional 4WD system.
Mahindra XUV 3XO
This year, Mahindra’s habit of launching game changers has brought in the Mahindra XUV 3XO i.e., the facelifted Mahindra XUV300. While the new name and design were enough to fascinate buyers, Mahindra went even further and equipped the compact SUV with a Level-2 ADAS safety suite and a panoramic sunroof, setting off sensations across the market. As expected, the sales of the car have seen a massive jump after the facelift. In November 2024, the XUV 3XO sold 7,656 units and gained a staggering 64 percent year-on-year growth. As always, the XUV 3XO is the most spacious car in its segment, while the overall premium feel has taken a giant leap ahead. Since Mahindra has raised the bar, the other compact SUVs are expected to match the new standards in the coming years.
The new Mahindra XUV 3XO carries forward its engines. It is equipped with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.2-litre direct injection turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. All three engines come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, while there is a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit for both petrol engines and a 6-speed AMT for the diesel engine.
Mahindra Bolero
For its rugged capabilities that make it easily tackle rough and uneven terrains, the Mahindra Bolero is the most preferred SUV in rural India and Mahindra’s best-ever-selling car. Since its launch in 2000, the Bolero has remained on an unopposed dream run and still does not really have any direct rival. As is the case with Scorpio, Mahindra sells more than one SUV under the Bolero badge. One is the standard evergreen 7-seater Bolero, second is the 7-seater Mahindra Bolero Neo, which is a more premium version, and third is the recently launched Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus, which is the 9-seater version of Bolero Neo. Last month, this trio sold 7,045 units which are respectable figures regardless of the 2 percent decline in year-on-year sales.
The standard Bolero and Bolero Neo comes with a 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, Bolero Neo Plus comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Mahindra XUV400 EV
Nearly a couple of years ago, Mahindra ventured into the EV space with the Mahindra XUV400 EV. Based on the pre-facelift XUV 3XO, the Mahindra XUV400 EV is on the larger side and is almost as spacious as the Hyundai Creta. Like the XUV 3XO, the XUV400 EV has a unique premium air about its cabin and packs a host of upmarket features to offer maximum comfort and convenience. Sale-wise, the XUV400 fared well in the market and its popularity is gradually growing, despite the dominance of the Tata Nexon EV and the recently launched MG Windsor EV. In November 2024, the XUV400 EV collected sales of 1,000 units, which gave it an impressive 41 percent year-on-year growth in sales.
The Mahindra XUV400 comes with two battery packs. The smaller one is 34.5 kWh and offers a range of 375 km, while the bigger 39.4 kWh battery pack offers a range of 456 km.
Mahindra Marazzo
Mahindra discontinued the Marazzo in July this year and it was the stock at dealerships which managed to sell only 9 units in November 2024, seeing an 82 percent year-on-year decline. It’s sad though that such a capable MUV didn’t fare well in the market. For starters, with a 4-star G-NCAP rating, the Marazzo was the safest MUV in India. Moreover, along with offering stylish looks, the 7- & 8-seater Marazzo packed more space than the far more expensive Toyota Innova Crysta. With such space in a well-insulated cabin, the Marazzo offered a premium ride experience and remains the world’s first car to be underpinned by a ladder frame chassis with a front-wheel drive. However, its mechanicals were rather basic as it was powered by a 1-5-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Love to see the Scorpio back to where it belongs.
