With the widest array of cars and service networks, Maruti Suzuki is the number one carmaker and has a firm grip on nearly 40 percent share of the entire Indian automobile market. Meanwhile, as Maruti cars prevail over other cars, there is internal competition among Maruti cars. Maruti Suzuki Baleno
India’s favourite premium hatchback, Maruti Baleno emerged as the best-selling car, although not for the first time. Raking up sales of 16,293 units in November 2024, the Baleno grew its sales by 26 percent over the sales it did in the corresponding month of last year. Since its launch in 2015, the Maruti Baleno has been a craze among the premium hatchback seekers and this drove it to write an incredible success story. Along with a comfortable cabin, a refined powertrain, and an elegant appearance, the Baleno promises the unmatchable reliability that comes with the badge of Maruti Suzuki. What makes this deal even more attractive is Baleno’s mileage which makes it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in India.
The Maruti Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT and is also available in CNG-powered variants. As far as mileage is concerned, the Baleno delivers 22.94 km/l from petrol and 30.61 km/kg from CNG.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The best-selling car of September and October, Maruti Ertiga is the best-selling MUV in India. It has long remained the most dominant player in its segment and earned a tried-and-trusted reputation. With ample space for 7 occupants, reliable underpinnings, and a frugal powertrain, the Ertiga comfortably meets most needs of an average MUV customer in India and pulls substantially more buyers than each of its rivals every month. Moreover, the Ertiga also benefits from offering the CNG variants that do great business for the cab companies. In November 2024, the Maruti Ertiga sold 15,150 units, registered an 18 percent year-on-year growth, and bagged the spot of the second-best-selling Maruti car and fifth-best-selling car.
Powering the Ertiga is a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild hybrid technology. The transmission options available consist of a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission. In terms of mileage, the Ertiga runs 20.51 km/l on petrol and 26.11 km/kg on CNG.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza
Maruti Brezza has always been one of the top performers in its segment. However, its popularity has risen further in recent times and it has been beating its arch-rival Tata Nexon for the past few months, barring the last month where it fell marginally short. In November 2024, the Brezza clocked sales of 14,918 units, helping itself acquire an 11 percent growth over the sale it did in the same month last year. The Brezza’s boxy silhouette, with a neat arrangement of straight lines, is very symbolic of the straightness of its character. It indeed is a straight-to-business offering which delivers what exactly buyers want – features, comfort, a time-tested and fuel-efficient powertrain, and exceptional reliability.
Maruti offers the Brezza with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that comes paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Moreover, with the mild-hybrid in all automatic variants, the Brezza returns a mileage of 17.38 – 19.8 km/l. Like most Maruti cars, the Brezza is available in CNG variants that return a mileage of 25.51 km/kg.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx
Maruti Fronx SUV has spent more than one year in the market. Without a shadow of a doubt, the car has been on a glorious run since day one in the market and proved that Maruti’s decision to position a car between Baleno and Brezza was well-founded. One of these two, Baleno, is the parent of Fronx. Due to this, Fronx brings the most desired aspects of an SUV such as the macho appeal and higher riding stance, and seamlessly merges them into the convenience of a hatchback. This package has hit the bull’s eye as Fronx is pulling strong volume consistently and last month was no different. In November 2024, Fronx put up a figure of 14,882 units on the overall sales chart and registered a growth of 51 percent over the sales it did in November 2023.
The Fronx comes with the 1.0-litre turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine and a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine from Baleno. Both engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while there is a 5-speed AMT for the NA engine and a 6-speed torque converter automatic for the turbo engine. Like most Maruti cars, the Fronx is also available in CNG variants that come with a 5-speed manual transmission and deliver a mileage of 28.51 km/kg.
Maruti Suzuki Swift
Closely following the Fronx, the Maruti Swift collected sales of 14,737 units in November 2024. While this is a 4 percent drop in its year-on-year performance, as always the iconic hatchback finished well ahead of all its rivals. With a decades-long revered legacy, the Maruti Swift is still the first preference for most Indians who want a tried and trusted family car that delivers pocket-friendly mileage. Along with attractive mileage, the Swift offers a segment-leading space to accommodate five passengers and a peppy performance that strikes the fancy of driving enthusiasts.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The longest-running Maruti car, the Maruti Wagon R has been one of the best-selling cars in India for decades. Playing a huge role in establishing Maruti as the market leader, the Wagon R has always been recognised as a unique hatchback, especially due to its tall-boy attire. This design makes it look both big and practical – a combination most fancy in an affordable hatchback. Along with affordability, the Wagon R offers pocket-friendly ownership with its excellent mileage and low maintenance cost. Moreover, like Dzire, Wagon R is a popular choice among cab companies, which greatly adds to its overall sales. As per the latest record, Wagon R sold 13,982 units in November 2024 and despite seeing a 16 percent decline in its year-on-year sales, it stands as one of the best-selling Maruti cars as well as one of the best-selling cars.
Maruti has equipped Wagon R with two petrol units: a 1-litre petrol engine and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. While both engines are coupled with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT, an optional CNG kit is also available with the 1-litre engine, which comes with only manual Transmission. The Maruti Wagon R delivers a mileage of 25.19 km/l from petrol and 34.05 km/kg from CNG.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The best-selling sedan in India, Maruti Dzire managed to sell 11,779 units in November 2024, which was a 26 percent drop from the 15,965 units it had sold in the same month last year. However, it is still the best-selling sedan in India and way ahead of its rivals in terms of sales. Moreover, last month, Maruti launched the new-generation Maruti Dzire which is an impeccable package and a much-improved Dzire. With the new Dzire now on sale, these sales figures are expected to grow in the coming months. The new Maruti Dzire has been the first Maruti car to score a 5-star rating on the Global NCAP safety test, and with this it became one of the safest cars in India.
The new Maruti Dzire is powered by the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine from the Maruti Swift. This engine delivers a mileage of 24.79 km/l with a petrol-manual powertrain, 25.71 km/l from a petrol-AMT powertrain, and 33.73 km/kg on CNG, which is available with only manual transmission.

The Maruti Eeco is a special car and holds special importance in the Indian market as well as in Maruti’s inventory. As the most affordable MUV in India, the Eeco is used mainly for business needs, such as ambulance services, public transportation, and cargo delivery. For successfully handling these businesses for more than ten years, Eeco has made itself essential for the market.
The Maruti Eeco is available in both 5- and 7-seater configurations and comes equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. In terms of mileage, the Eeco delivers 19.71 km/l from petrol and 26.78 km/kg from CNG.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
Hybrid SUVs were mostly unheard of in India until the Maruti Grand Vitara took the market by storm. Now the mid-size SUV customers can comfortably put up with the increasing fuel prices, thanks to the Grand Vitara and its sibling, Toyota Hyryder, that offer fuel efficiency of up to 27.97 km/l. Along with such mileage, the Grand Vitara offers almost everything expected of a premium mid-size and this is precisely what has established it as one of the best-selling SUVs. In November 2024, selling 10,148 units, the Grand Vitara emerged as the third-best-selling SUV and one of the best-selling Maruti cars, gaining 28 percent growth over its sales in the same month of 2023.
Under the hood, the Grand Vitara comes with two engine offerings. A 1.5-litre petrol mild-hybrid engine mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. And a 1.5-litre petrol strong-hybrid engine paired with an e-CVT automatic. The CNG variants come with the 1.5-litre petrol mild-hybrid engine mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox and deliver a mileage of 26.6 km/kg.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10
A long-revered legacy makes the Maruti Alto still the first choice of many buyers looking to own an entry-level car. While the popular Alto 800 is no longer there in Alto’s lineup, as always, the Alto is one of the best-selling Maruti cars. The main attraction of Alto lies in its city-friendly dimensions, ample space to accommodate a small family and economic mileage. That said, Alto saw an 8 percent decline and sold 7,467 units in November 2024.
