In recent years, the rise of Tata has been nothing short of astonishing. Today, the Indian carmaker stands strong among the market leaders and has a unique reputation for the unmatchable safety, stylish designs, and premium comfort of its cars. Some of these cars have been superhits, some sell decently, and some don’t sell as well as they should. For a long time, Tata has kept a stronghold on the third largest share of the overall sales, however, Mahindra outsold Tata in September and October. In November, Tata regained the third largest share, selling 47,063 units, which translated into a 2.2 percent year-on-year growth. Here is what the Tata Cars sales chart looks like for November 2024.

Tata Punch
Right from the beginning of its run, the popularity of the Tata Punch has been on a scintillating ascent. Around a year ago, the Punch grabbed the title of the best-selling Tata car and is not letting it go. The main attraction of Punch lies in a good mix of distinct characteristics such as the muscular design, taller seating position, and a premium cabin that replicates the cabin of a full-size SUV. Moreover, with the growing demand for safer cars, the 5-star G-NCAP safety rating makes the Tata Punch even more appealing and one of the safest cars in India. To compete with the Tata Punch, Hyundai and Maruti launched Exter and Fronx respectively. Nonetheless, Punch is still leading the relatively new and unique segment it created, beating both its rivals every month. Last month, the Punch sold 15,435 units, gaining a 7 percent year-on-year growth, and grabbing the title of the best-selling Tata car of the month.
The Tata Punch is available in petrol-powered, CNG-powered, and electric-powered avatars. The ICE variants come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The Tata Punch EV is available with a 25 kWh battery and a 35 kWh battery that offer ranges of 315 km and 421 km, respectively.
Tata Nexon
In November 2024, the Tata Nexon sold 15,329 units and saw a 3 percent growth in its year-on-year sales. While the Nexon is no longer the best-selling Tata car and the best-selling compact SUV, it cannot be overlooked that it once had both these titles and has often emerged as the best-selling car in India. In fact, it was the Nexon which turned the fortunes of the Indian carmaker much before the Tata Punch arrived. Today, as always, with an appealing design, segment-leading ride comfort, and exciting performance, the Nexon delivers a fascinating value for its price and this is what keeps it strong amidst the ever-rising competition. What makes its offering even more appealing is a 5-star G-NCAP-rated strong structure that infuses passengers with an inexplicable confidence.
In terms of mechanicals, the Nexon is available with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. Both engines come paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AMT. Moreover, there is an optional 6-speed DCT automatic mated to the turbo petrol engine. The Tata Nexon EV comes with two battery packs. The 30 kWh battery pack offers a range of 325 km while the 40.5 kWh battery pack offers a range of 465 km.
Tata Tiago
The Tata Tiago is a special car for the Indian carmaker as this popular hatchback spearheaded the rise of Tata after a long time. The Tata Tiago’s appeal starts with the segment-best safety and the Indian hatchback offers the reassurance that even though you are in a small car you have a strong cocoon protecting you in case of an unfortunate accident. This along with stylish looks and the premium comfort expected of Tata, has made the Tata Tiago one of the best-selling hatchbacks in India. What also boosts Tiago’s sales is the fact that it is the only hatchback in India to be available in petrol-powered, CNG-powered, and electric-powered variants. Last month, the Tata Tiago sold 5,319 units, and despite seeing a 3 percent decline in its year-on-year performance, it is one of the top three selling Tata cars.
The Tata Tiago is equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The CNG variants come with a 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT. The Tiago EV comes with two battery options: a 19.2 kWh battery and a 24 kWh battery that have claimed ranges of 250 km and 315 km respectively.
Tata Curvv
In true Tata fashion, the Indian carmaker has once again done something mould-breaking and launched a stunning mass-market coupe SUV, Tata Curvv, recently. The Tata Curvv is on sale in both ICE and EV avatars and is here to take on the likes of mid-size SUVs. Being a coupe SUV, the Curvv is a fresh and spellbinding car for most buyers and to challenge cars like the Hyundai Creta, the Curvv packs a lot of features and offers a segment-leading ride comfort. As far as sales are concerned, the Curvv is doing significantly well as of now, but it can also be the first mover advantage. In November 2024, the Curvv grabbed a spot on this list with sales of 5101 units.
Powering the Tata Curvv are three engines: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, and a 1.2-litre T-GDi engine. All engines come mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DCA.
Tata Altroz
The Tata Altroz holds a respectable dominance, competing in a niche segment, which is slightly unpopular as compared to other segments, but is highly competitive. To rival the Hyundai i20 and the segment-leader Maruti Baleno, the Altroz offers an attractive appearance and a strong body which has been conferred a full 5-star rating by Global NCAP. In other respects, such as the wealth of premium features and interior quality, the Indian premium hatchback is at par with its rivals if not above. All the same, like most hatchbacks, the Altroz is bearing the brunt of the burgeoning popularity of SUVs, and not selling as well as it used to. In November 2024, the Altroz saw a 58 percent drop in its year-on-year sales, with sales of 2,083 units.
The Altroz has three engines on offer: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. All three engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard; however, the naturally aspirated petrol engine also comes with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Additionally, the Altroz is also available in CNG-powered variants that deliver a mileage of 26.2 km/kg.
Tata Safari
The flagship of the Indian carmaker, Tata Safari is one of the best seven-seater cars available in the Indian automobile market. The prime reason behind Tata’s masterclass space management as the Safari is one of the few seven-seater SUVs which can comfortably accommodate all seven passengers, especially in the last row. In addition to that, Safari is well-laden with upmarket features to deliver the premium experience one expects of a car of its price tag. A package of ample space and features becomes even more attractive with a full 5-star rating the Safari bagged in the Global NCAP safety test. As far as sales are concerned, the Safari does a decent business which has its limit of not being available in petrol-powered variants. Last month, the Safari sales saw a 29 percent year-on-year drop in sales as the Indian SUV sold 1,563 units.
Being the 7-seater derivative of the Harrier, the Tata Safari shares its powertrains with its and therefore comes equipped with a 2-litre diesel engine mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Tata Harrier
The Tata Harrier competes in the upper end of the mid-size SUV segment that consists of contenders like Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector. In the face of such capable rivals, the Tata Harrier is doing significantly well, even though in the last month it saw a 41 percent year-on-year drop, selling 1,374 units. Widely acclaimed for its majestic design, the Tata Harrier is one of the most beautiful cars in India. It features a cabin as large as that of the 7-seater Tata Safari, making itself the most spacious 5-seater car under 30 lakh. Moreover, like the Safari, the Tata Harrier is rated 5-star by the Global NCAP, features the ADAS safety suite, and is one of the safest cars in India.
The Tata Harrier is available with a 2-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Tata Tigor
One of the most underrated cars in India, the Tata Tigor rounds off this list with sales of 859 units in November 2024. With this, the Indian compact sedan saw a 52 percent drop in its year-on-year performance. However, these sales figures are not commensurate with the capability of the Tata Tigor. While being high on safety with a 4-star G-NCAP rated body, the Tata Tigor offers an immaculate cabin that is high on comfort and the car features all the features needed to provide an entertaining ride.
The Tata Tigor is the only car in its segment to be available in petrol-powered, CNG-powered, and electric variants. For ICE variants, the Tigor comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT; the CNG variants come with only manual transmission. The Tata Tigor EV comes with a 26 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 315 km.
Tata to be the Indian king soon.
