Launched on 15th February, the Kia Carens has sold 5,300 units in just 13 days. While the semiconductor shortage is still a concern to the automotive industry, the bookings of Kia Carens have crossed the 50,000 bookings milestone in just two months. The Korean carmaker claims, the Luxury and Luxury Plus variants have been the popular customer choice and contributed to 45% of Kia Carens sales. They also claimed around 50% of customers chose diesel variants, and close to 30% took home the automatic variants of the Carens.
The smart pricing of Kia Carens seems to be the major factor in its massive success. Its base and mid variants compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Mahindra Marazzo, and its top variants rival the Hyundai Alcazar, and the Toyota Innova. Along with this, the Kia Carens is considerably bigger than most of its rivals, while offering a pleasant family travel experience.
Powering the Kia Carens are three powertrains. A 1.5L petrol engine is paired with 6-Speed manual transmission. A 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine, mated with a 6-speed manual transmission and 7-Speed DCT automatic. A 1.5L diesel engine is coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
