As the monsoon rains revive and rejuvenate us, Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Marui Suzuki Brezza in India at a starting price of Rs. 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). After a mild facelift and engine swap in 2020, Maruti has now completely reworked its compact SUV, giving it a new exterior, interior, engine, and name. While the new Brezza drops the Vitara from its name, it is expected to continue competing against the popular Tata Nexon, the recently facelifted Hyundai Venue, and other compact SUVs in this increasingly crowded segment. Maruti Brezza Exterior and Interior
The Brezza’s silhouette remains largely the same as the previous generation but features a completely new exterior design that is more mature. The interiors of the Brezza also get a major refresh, featuring new upholstery and a redesigned dashboard.
New Aggressive Exterior Design
The new Brezza now sports a more mature design that incorporates more of the design language from the Grand Vitara. The clamshell hood has been redesigned to feature flatter angles while the new grille minimizes chrome and features a solid black grille. The headlamp cluster also gets a new design with dual cube-shaped LED projectors with LED DRLs.
The side profile of the Brezza features new 16-inch alloy wheels and thicker black plastic cladding on the wheel arches and the doors. If you found the previous generation’s rear to be a little plain, the new Brezza now features sleek LED tail lamps and bulges on the rear hatch to give the car more character. In terms of dimensions, the new Brezza retains the same dimensions as the previous generation. This means the same 3,995 mm length, 1,790 mm width, 1685 mm height, and 2,500 mm wheelbase. Expect the same interior space as before with updated interiors.
Updated Modern Interior
Maruti has injected a fresh breath of life with a completely reworked dashboard. The interiors of the Brezza now receive a brown-black dual tone treatment that improves over the all-black interiors of the previous generation. The centre console also features a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display and switches from the recently launched Baleno.
The new Brezza also borrows the D-shaped steering wheel as well as the Heads-up Display from the Baleno. The focus with this generation is definitely to deliver a more premium cabin experience. The Arkamys sound system is part of this focus and should provide a better sound experience inside the car. The Brezza also has the distinction of being one of the first Maruti cars to feature an electric sunroof, bringing it on par with its compact SUV rivals.

The new Brezza is only being offered with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 103 PS of power and 137Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Brezza will feature the SHVS mild-hybrid technology that Maruti has offered on its compact SUV. The new Brezza has a claimed mileage of up to 20.15 kmpl on the manual variants and 19.80 kmpl for the automatic variants.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the Brezza at Rs. 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. The top-end Brezza ZXI+ automatic variant has been priced at Rs. 13.96 lakh (ex-showroom) This price range will allow the Maruti compact SUV to compete against the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and the Mahindra XUV300. The recently launched Mahindra Scorpio-N’s lower variants also overlap with the top-end variants of the Brezza, which will make give even more choice to those considering a SUV in the coming months.
