New Design
The new Celerio will feature a completely new design that appears to be derived from the more premium Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Unlike the boxy design of the previous gen Celerio, the new car has a more sculpted aesthetic that also features rounded headlights and tail lights. The front fascia features a redesigned bumper while the side profile is more akin to the Baleno. Overall, the design will be more appealing to buyers as it looks like a more mature car than the outgoing Celerio.
Compared to the previous generation Celerio, the new hatchback is now wider and longer. This has the benefit of providing more space for the passengers, especially in the rear. The new Celerio also has a significantly larger boot, increased to 313 litres from the 235 litres of the previous gen Celerio. These increased dimensions will make the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio an extremely popular city car.
The current Celerio was one of the only Maruti cars that had not shifted to Maruti’s Heartect platform. This changes with the new 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio as it is being built on this platform. The new Celerio will now have better safety capability over the outgoing model while also increasing interior space for passengers.
New Interiors
The interiors will also see a redesign as the new Celerio is expected to do away with the dual tone interior and instead feature a single tone black interior. The new Celerio now features a sculpted dashboard with the power window controls now moving under the infotainment system. Speaking of which, the new Celerio will now feature a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display on the higher variants. The steering wheel also gets minor tweaks while the MID cluster has been completely redesigned.
New Engine
The most exciting upgrade on the new Celerio is the 1.0-litre DualJet petrol engine. The DualJet technology will provide better fuel utilization, and in combination with the idle start-stop technology, the new Maruti Celerio promises better fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki has stated that the new Celerio will provide a fuel efficiency figure of 26.68 kmpl, which would make the new Celerio one of the most fuel efficient cars in India. Much like the outgoing model, the new Celerio will feature a 5-speed manual and an 5-speed AMT gearbox.
2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Price
The previous generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio was known for being the most affordable automatic hatchback car in India. That tag may now be harder to claim considering the new Celerio AMT starts from ₹6.13 lakhs (ex-showroom) while the automatic variant of the Hyundai Santro starts from ₹5.72 lakhs (ex-showroom). The addition of hill hold assist on the new Celerio might justify the higher cost and help it stand out from its competitors.
