The festive season is fast approaching and car launches have resumed once more to capitalize on the appetite for car ownership.
Our latest Spinny Post covers interesting developments that should positively impact the car market going into the future. We’re featuring the announcement of the new Bharat NCAP crash test safety, the launch of Toyota’s most affordable MUV, and the unofficial reveal of the new Tata Nexon.
We have also curated a few noteworthy cars exclusively for the Spinny Post in the Hidden Gems section.
Safer Cars for India
In recent years, safety has become a key criteria for car buyers and car manufacturers have been meeting this growing demand with cars that are built from the ground up to be safe. However, the process for certifying the safety of any car involved voluntarily sending the car to the Global NCAP, which came at great cost to car makers. In the interest of improving the safety standards further while making the new car safety assessment more affordable, the Government of India has introduced the Bharat New car Assessment Program (BNCAP). Check out the link below to get an insight into how new cars will be tested in India and how you can check the rating before you buy.
Toyota Enters the Affordable MUV Segment
The Maruti-Toyota partnership appears to be quite successful as we have seen a number of sibling product launches in recent months. In a bid to capture the sub-15 lakh MUV segment, Toyota has launched the Toyota Rumion MUV at Rs. 10.29 lakh. The Rumion is essentially a rebadged Maruti Ertiga with minor exterior and interior changes to differentiate itself. The main reason to consider the Rumion over the Ertiga would be Toyota’s warranty that provides coverage for longer than Maruti. Read more on the link below to see the full variant and price list for the Rumion as well as what equipment you can expect onboard.
The New Nexon Unofficially Breaks Cover
Tata has been quiet for some time. While they continue to expand their EV offerings, their portfolio of SUVs have continued their run of success with minor feature updates and special edition launches. In the face of increasing competition, Tata is now revamping their entire lineup of SUVs, starting with the Tata Nexon compact SUV. The Nexon has become the benchmark for the segment, and Tata is keen on modernizing it to keep the challengers from Hyundai, Kia, and Maruti at bay. Check out what you can expect from the new Tata Nexon’s launch later in September.
