  • Step 4: To avoid long waiting lines, book an appointment at the selected Aadhaar Enrolment Center. You can do this through the UIDAI portal.
  • Step 5: On the scheduled date and time, visit the Enrolment Center with all your necessary documents. Here, an official will verify your documents and capture your biometric data, including fingerprints and iris scans.

This is an electronic form of Aadhaar card or a digital copy of the Aadhaar card. You can visit the UIDAI website and download your Aadhaar card.

  1. m-Aadhaar:

m-Aadhaar which is also known as the Mobile Aadhaar is a digital copy used when we access our Aadhaar card through the m-Aadhaar app. The residents can download the Aadhaar, retrieve lost Aadhaar details or view/show the m-Aadhaar when one is needed to show proof.

Aadhaar card Eligibility

To obtain the Aadhaar card, a person has to follow certain criteria:

  • To apply for an Aadhaar, a person must be an Indian citizen and resident.
  • To be qualified, the individual must have been a resident of the nation for at least 182 days; they can either be foreign or local.
  • For Indian citizens, there is no specific upper age limit or restriction on their eligibility for Aadhaar. Adults, children, and senior citizens can all register for the program.
  • Parents and guardians can register for infants as well as apply for them.
  • Candidates may require documentation and evidence of identity, as these are necessary and required. Voter ID cards, passports, driver’s licence, utility bills, and ration cards are among the common documents required.
  • It is prohibited for non-Indian residents to apply for Aadhaar. 

DigiLocker account is a great initiative by the Government of India to create an extensive file locker system for storing and other documentation purposes. This service is available at free of cost. Linking your Aadhaar card with your account is pivotal for access to different services. Here, we take a look at the step-by-step process of how to link your Aadhaar card with a DigiLocker account. 

  • Step 1: Log in to a DigiLocker account with the help of a password and user ID or mobile number.
  • Step 2: Once the credentials are provided, a user will find a link to enter an Aadhaar number.
  • Step 3: Select an option “Link Now” to start with this linking procedure.
  • Step 4: An OTP will be sent to a registered mobile number. Provide an OTP in the required box to proceed to the next step.
  • Step 5: This step involves selecting a “Verify” option from the drop-down menu for successful linking of the Aadhaar card to a DigiLocker account.

It is important to understand that linking an Aadhaar card with a DigiLocker is possible only when the mobile number of a user is linked with an Aadhaar.
