The Jeep Commander’s upcoming 3-row 7-seater SUV has been recently spied in India for the first time. The American carmaker has codenamed the car H6 and is intending to launch it in India in 2022. The car’s global debut in Brazil is expected in the coming months, delivering the left-hand-drive variants. The right-hand-drive variants will be manufactured only in India and sold locally as well as globally.
What to expect?
Not only the platform, but the new 3-row 7-seater SUV will also be sharing many of its attributes with the 5-seater, Jeep Compass. This certainly won’t translate into the two cars being indistinguishable. The Jeep Commander will be a completely different SUV to the Jeep Compass, with its own characteristics. Sharp and sleek LED tail lamps will be flanked on either side of a more upright rear with longer rear doors and a 7-slat grille will be embellishing a more upright front fascia. Accommodation of 3 rows has rendered the car with 4895mm of length, 1896mm of width, and 1754mm of height, and the 6-seater variant will sport captain seats in the middle row. The premium quotient of the car’s relatively bigger cabin has loaded it with upgraded features.
Specification of Jeep Commander 7-seater SUV

- Completely digital dash, panoramic sunroof, and multi-zone automatic climate control
- Wireless smartphone connectivity and connected car tech.

Engine and Powertrain
The car will be powered by a 2.0-litre multi-jet Turbo diesel engine. Though the same engine is installed in Jeep Compass, in this car it is machined to churn out a power of 202.8 PS as compared to Jeep Compass’s 175.5 PS. A 6-Speed manual and 9-Speed torque converter automatic gearbox will transmit the power and the higher variants are likely to come with 4×4 drivetrains.
When is it coming?
The production of the new Jeep Commander is anticipated to commence by April of 2022, and the launch will possibly be in the mid of 2022. The Jeep H6 SUV will compete with the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner, and Ford Endeavour.
