Kia is gearing up to launch the Sonet facelift in India on December 14, with a fresh teaser creating buzz around the popular compact SUV. This time around, the teaser has revealed a whole new design along with some new features. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Kia Sonet facelift.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Exterior Design
Based on what the latest teaser has revealed, the upcoming Kia Sonet facelift will bring a more Seltos-inspired design to the Sonet with inclusions such as a connected LED light bar that will bridge two C-shaped LED tail lamps. Other details that are visible from the teaser include a protruding rear spoiler with an integrated stop lamp, rear wiper blades, and a rather contoured tailgate. The rear bumper also reveals a grey moulding treatment that adds a bit of muscle to the compact SUV. Even the front profile is set to bring in some exciting cosmetic changes that will include new chrome inserts for the grille along with a sharper multi-reflector LED headlamp cluster and fang-shaped LED DRLs and sleeker LED fog lamps. Even the front bumper will be tweaked to accommodate contemporary design elements.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Features and Interiors
One thing that the latest teaser finally confirms is the fact that the Sonet facelift is all set to offer a digital instrument cluster onboard. From what has been revealed, it seems as if the 10.25-inch unit from the Seltos has been used for the Sonet. However, based on other spy shots circulating in the market, the Sonet may also borrow the Venue’s instrument cluster, hinting that the dashing Kia unit might be reserved for the top-trims.
Another exciting feature that is confirmed by the latest teaser is the ADAS suite, which is already offered onboard the Hyundai Venue. Despite the teaser only showing the collision warning system and forward collision avoidance, it is evident that the Sonet will bring in the entire package that includes features such as high beam assist, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and much more.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Engine and Transmission
Talking about what’s under the hood, the Kia Sonet facelift will continue to offer its present three-engine setup that includes:
- A 1.2-litre petrol engine that comes mated with a 5-speed manual
- A 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that comes mated with a 6-speed iMT/7-speed DCT automatic
- A 1.5-litre Diesel engine that comes mated with a 6-speed iMT/6-speed Torque Convertor Automatic.
If reports are to be believed, the Kia Sonet facelift could bring back the diesel manual transmission as well. But that’s something only time will reveal.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Rivals, Price and Launch
Slated to launch early next year, the Kia Sonet would see an evident price increase over its current Rs. 7.79 to 14.89 Lakh, ex-showroom price. Nonetheless, the compact SUV will continue to lock horns with the likes of Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Hyundai Venue upon launch.
