Kia’s latest car, the Kia Syros, scored a full 5-star rating for adult protection and child protection in the Bharat NCAP safety test. This makes the Kia Syros the first Kia car to score a perfect 5-star safety rating in either Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP. Launched in February 2025, the Kia Syros turned out to be an instant success for the Korean carmaker, and now, with a 5-Star BNCAP rating, it has made its package has become even more appealing, and one of the safest cars in India.
Kia Syros: Adult Occupant Protection

The Kia Syros scored 14.21 out of 16 points in the Frontal offset deformable barrier test. The protection to the driver’s and front passenger’s heads and necks was reported to be good, while the protection to the driver’s chest and knees was reported to be adequate.
In the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test, the Kia Syros scored 16 out of 16 points, spelling a good protection to all parts of the driver, while in the side pole impact test, the protection offered was reported to be ‘Ok.’
Kia Syros: Child Occupant Protection

The Kia Syros scored 23.42 out of 24 points in the dynamic test, 10 out of 12 points in Child restraint system (CRS) installation, and 9 out of 13 points in Vehicle assessment. The dummies of both 18-month-old and 3-year-old babies were tested in rearward-facing child seats positioned in the front passenger seat, secured by ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg.
Kia Syros Platform
The Kia Syros is based on Kia’s K1 platform, which also underpins cars like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Hyundai Exter, and Hyundai Aura. All the same, the Korean carmaker calls this platform the reinforced K1, and they claim it has been fortified with a lot of hot-stamped parts in the body shell. Kia says this platform has allowed them to accommodate their latest electricals and electronics to enhance overall safety.
Kia Syros Safety Features
The Kia Syros is equipped with many safety features, including electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Of all these, six airbags, a tyre pressure monitor, ABS with EBD, ESC, Vehicle Stability Management, hill start assist, ISOFIX anchorages and some others are offered as standard across all variants.
Kia Syros Safety rating vs Rivals’
Of all Kia Syros rivals, the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Skoda Kylaq have been tested by Bharat NCAP, and all of them have scored full 5-star ratings. Considering the points these cars scored, the Skoda Kylaq scored the best, and the Kia Syros was the second-best. In Kia’s lineup, the Kia Seltos, Kia Sonet, and Kia Carens have been tested by Global NCAP, and all three have scored a 3-star rating.
