Mahindra has finally launched the long-speculated BE 6e electric SUV at the starting price of Rs. 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mahindra BE 6e coupe SUV is the first product from the recently established electric sub-brand, BE. With a striking aggressive design akin to a concept car, the BE 6e sets itself apart from other EVs and considering its other characteristics such as the 682 km range, it sure looks like a game-changer. Here is a closer look at the Mahindra BE 6e.

Mahindra BE 6e: Dimensions and Design

The Mahindra BE 6e is 4,371 mm long, 1,907 mm wide, 1,627 mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 2,775mm. This wheelbase is the same as that of the Mahindra XEV 9e and will remain the same for all Mahindra EVs based on the brand’s new INGLO EV skateboard platform. Moreover, the BE 6e has a ground clearance of 207 mm, a boot space of 455 litres, and a frunk of 45 litres.

The Mahindra BE 6e looks largely similar to its concept model, which is radical to say the least. The sharp and aggressive design of the BE 6e coupe SUV is full of cuts and creases. The front highlights the closed-off grille, as is typical of EVs, silver skid plate, black bumper, LED fog lamps, and horizontally stacked LED projector headlights housed in C-shaped LED DRLs like those on the Mahindra XUV 3XO. A particular cutting-edge element is the functional air duct on the bonnet between the headlights for better aerodynamics. Over to the side, the Mahindra BE 6e gets gloss black cladding covering the bottom end of the EV, flush-fitting front door handles, C-pillar-integrated rear door handles, 19-inch aerodynamically-designed alloy wheels, and 245/55 section tyres, giving it a macho road presence. The 20-inch alloy wheels are available as an optional extra. At the rear, the BE 6e gets C-shaped LED tail lights like those at the front, a black rear bumper, and two silver skid plates with integrated reflectors.

Mahindra BE 6e: Interior and Features

Like the exterior, the interior can be best described as radical. One special highlight is a curved trim that extends from the dashboard to the centre console, covering the driver’s AC vents, splitting the cabin into two sections, giving the driver’s side a cockpit simulation. What also helps in making such a simulation is the new two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with an illuminated Mahindra logo and a floating centre console that houses an aircraft lever styled drive mode selector, a rotary dial for the drive modes. The seats feature a combination of fabric and leatherette upholstery with adjustable headrests for all passengers, while the doors are finished in the cabin’s colour.

In terms of features, the Mahindra BE 6e is equipped with a segment-first head-up display, panoramic sunroof with integrated multi-colour lighting patterns and laminated glass, auto park assistance, in-car camera, a Dolby Atmos 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, powered driver’s seat with memory function, 5G connectivity with in-built Wi-Fi, 360-degree camera, and more. The safety equipment includes 7 airbags (6 as standard), an electronic parking brake, and a Level 2 ADAS safety suite with features like autonomous emergency braking and driver drowsiness detection.

Mahindra BE 6e: Battery and Range

The Mahindra BE 6e comes with two battery pack options and a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration, while an all-wheel-drive version can be brought in later. Of the two battery packs, the 59 kWh battery produces 231 PS power and 380 Nm torque and offers a range of 535 km. The 79 kWh battery produces 286 PS power and 380 Nm torque and offers a 682 km range. It offers three drive modes: Range, Everyday, and Race, and Mahindra claims that the higher variant of the BE 6e can sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in 6.7 seconds. Moreover, there is an additional boost mode which delivers 10 seconds of max torque.

The Mahindra BE 6e supports fast charging: the larger battery pack can be juiced up by 175 kW DC fast charging, while the 59 kWh battery supports 140 kW DC fast charging. With fast charging, both batteries can be topped up from 0 to 80 percent in 20 minutes. Mahindra will also offer two AC charger options: 7.3 kWh and 11.2 kWh.

Mahindra BE 6e: Price and Rivals

As of now, Mahindra has announced the price of the lower variant (with 59 kWh battery) of the Mahindra BE 6e, which is Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The prices of all variants are expected to be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. With these prices, the Mahindra BE 6e will rival the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Maruti eVX and Hyundai Creta EV.
