The Mahindra Scorpio N has cleared the Global NCAP safety test with flying colours, scoring a full 5-star in adult safety and 3-star in the child occupant test. The Indian 7-seater SUV has scored these ratings under the latest G-NCAP safety protocols that are more stringent than ever and feature additional crash tests to provide a more comprehensive safety rating. The Mahindra Scorpio N is the sixth Indian car to join the 5-star rating club and has placed itself among the safest cars in India. Moreover, while the Mahindra Scorpio N is already a grand success in India, the 5-star G-NCAP rating will increase its popularity further.
Mahindra Scorpio N G-NCAP Test Results
The Mahindra Scorpio N scored 29.25 points out of a total of 34 in adult occupant protection tests, leading to a 5-star rating. The protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck was stated to be good. However, protection for the driver’s and passenger’s chest was marked as marginal.
The new G-NCAP testing procedure comprises a side impact test with a deformable barrier, in which the Scorpio-N showed good protection to the occupants and scored 16 points out of a total of 17. Moreover, the SUV showed decent protection in side pole impact tests, however, the chest region of the occupants received a ‘weak’ rating. It was also noted that the bodyshell and the footwell area of the Scorpio-N was stable and capable of withstanding further loadings.
In child occupant protection, the Scorpio-N scored 28.93 points out of the total of 49, earning a 3-star rating. It was also noted that the SUV has ISOFIX mounting points in the outer rear seats in the second row.

Mahindra Scorpio N Safety Equipment
The Mahindra Scorpio N is widely acclaimed for its rugged character and off-roading calibre, and thus is meant to be high in safety. Along with a robust bodyshell, the base variant of the 7-seater SUV comes equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX anchorages. As you move up the variants, you get ESC, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, side and curtain airbags, and tire pressure monitoring system, and the top variant features driver drowsiness detection. The availability of 6 airbags in higher variants was a key reason for the high scores in the G-NCAP crash test.
