Mahindra has launched the Mahindra Thar Roxx at the starting price of Rs. 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). While the Mahindra Thar Roxx is the 5-door version of the smaller 3-door Mahindra Thar, it brings many additional features that make it a more premium Thar. Here is a quick look at what the Mahindra Thar Roxx is all about.
- Mahindra Thar Roxx shares engines with the 3-door Thar, but offers more performance.
- Features a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and Level-2 ADAS.
- In the base variant, Mahindra Thar Roxx offers only a petrol engine mated to a manual gearbox .
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Design
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is 4,428 mm long, 1,870 mm wide, 1,923 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.
While the Mahindra Thar Roxx is a larger 5-door version of the 3-door Mahindra Thar, it doesn’t look like an elongated model. Compared with the 3-door Thar, the Thar Roxx gets a new horizontally divided 6-slat grille instead of a mono-unit seven-slats grille. Even though the headlamps retain the classic circular design, they feature LED projectors with C-shaped Daytime Running Lamps, and LED fog lamps. The front bumper also gets some brushed aluminium elements at the centre.
On the side, along with chunky wheel arches, the Thar Roxx features diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels on the higher variants, while mid variants get 18-inch alloy wheels, and lower variants get steel wheels. While the front doors appear identical to those on the standard Thar, the rear doors get the door handles on the C-pillars. Moreover, the Thar Roxx offers dual-tone paint with a contrast metallic black roof that houses a panoramic sunroof. At the rear, the Thar Roxx looks a lot like the standard Thar 3-door, but the tail lights are slightly redesigned with C-shaped LEDs.
The Mahindra Thar can be had in seven exterior colours: Stealth Black, Tango Red, Everest White, Deep Forest, Nebula Blue, Battleship Grey, and Burnt Sienna.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Interior & Features
On the inside, the Thar Roxx carries forward the same interior as the standard Thar, but the black and beige theme does add to the premium quotient. For example, the dashboard wears dark brown leatherette padding, with contrasting copper stitching, while the seats are covered with beige perforated leatherette upholstery. The main highlight is on the rear seat though, which features a foldout centre armrest, three-point seatbelts, and adjustable headrests for all passengers.
The feature department is where the Thar Roxx is significantly ahead of the standard Thar. The 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx features two 10.25-inch displays – one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, a powered 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, an automatic AC with rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto dimming IRVM, cooled glove box, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, Adrenox connected car tech, and more. It also gets the drive modes: Zip and Zoom, and terrain modes: snow, sand and mud.
In the safety department, the Thar Roxx features six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability control (ESC), hill ascent and descent assist, traction control system, cruise control, and the Level-2 ADAS safety suite which consists of autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, high beam assist, smart pilot assist, and traffic signal recognition.
