After a string of sporadic teasers, Mahindra has finally launched the Mahindra XUV 3XO at a starting price of Rs. 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV 3XO is the rechristened and facelifted XUV300, which had received a new turbo petrol engine in its last update. Along with the previous name, this facelifted model has shrugged off the dated identity that was holding it back in the competition with challengers like Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza. At the same time, the overhaul it has received inside out takes the fight to rival carmakers. In a bid to thwart its competitors, here is what the new Mahindra XUV 3XO has to offer.
Mahindra XUV 3XO: Dimensions & Design
The Mahindra XUV 3XO is 3,990 mm long, 1,821 mm wide, and 1,647 mm tall while the Mahindra XUV300 was 3,995 mm long, 1,821 mm wide, and 1,627 mm tall. So, the difference on the dimensional front is not much and even the wheelbase of 2,600 mm is the same as before.
The design of the Mahindra XUV 3XO is largely inspired by Mahindra’s Born-Electric line-up of SUVs. The front fascia of the XUV 3XO sports a chrome-finished triangular motif on the new two-part grille, a sharper nose, stylish fang-shaped LED daytime running lamps, redesigned front bumper and headlights setup. Moreover, the central air intake on the bumper is larger than the one on the current model.
The XUV 3XO sits on a new set of alloy wheels that are finished in dark chrome. At the rear, the XUV 3XO features a completely redesigned tailgate housing a new XUV 3XO moniker with Mahindra’s Twin Peaks logo atop. Furthermore, there is a full-width LED light bar linking the new sleek C-shaped tail lamps.
Mahindra will sell XUV 3XO in seven exterior colour options: Citrine Yellow, Dune Dust, Nebula Blue, Deep Forest, Stealth Black and Everest White. The higher variant will also be offered in dual-tone colour themes.
Mahindra XUV 3XO: Interior & Features
On the inside, XUV 3XO gets an all-new dashboard which it shares with the XUV400 EV. This new dashboard feels more premium due to the soft-touch materials combined with the gloss black treatment. Moreover, there is a larger 10.25-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system placed above the horizontal middle AC vents instead of the vertical units on the earlier model. While there is a new 10.25-inch fully-digital TFT instrument cluster with sharper animations, a modern-looking centre console has replaced the old HVAC controls of XUV300. The revamped steering gets a gloss black treatment and like the pre-facelift model, the XUV 3XO offers dual-tone black and beige-themed interiors.
The biggest update on the XUV 3XO is in its feature list and its chief highlight is a segment-first panoramic sunroof which is 940 mm long and 870 mm wide. In addition to that, the key features of XUV 3XO include dual-zone climate control, wireless charger, ambient lighting, 360-degree surround camera, leatherette seats, seven-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with a 380W amplifier, Adrenox Connect in-car connectivity suite, and drive modes: Zip, Zap, Zoom like those of the larger Mahindra XUV700.
Safety on the XUV 3XO has also taken a quantum leap, adding in the coveted Level-2 safety suite. With Level-2 ADAS features, the XUV 3XO gets a great edge over all its rivals including Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue which sport Level-1 ADAS features. The other safety features of the XUV 3X0 include up to 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear disc brakes, ESP, roll-over mitigation, ISOFIX anchors, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, hill-start, hill descent assist, a 360-degree camera, and blind spot monitor.
The Level-2 ADAS safety suite of Mahindra XUV 3XO consists of forward collision warning, lane departure warning, auto emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, high-beam assist, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and smart pilot assist.
