MG Motors is expected to bring the 2-door mini electric car MG E230 to India. The MG E230 will be based on the Wuling Honguang Mini EV which is a very popular car in China, and saw sales of over 400,000 units in December 2021.
The British automaker intends to price it around Rs 10 lakh for India, which could disrupt the Indian market, as at present there is no EV that is available under 10 lakh.
The MG E230 EV will have a larger wheelbase and would include a 20kWh battery pack, giving this small EV an estimated range of 150 km.
From the range, it can be deduced that the MG E230 will be strictly for commuting and is most likely to be used by short distance commuters. The MG E230’s small size will make it easily maneuverable in cities and finding a parking space won’t be a hassle.
Going by the pictures the MG E230 has a boxy silhouette much like the older WagonR albeit a bit smaller. The 2-door mini EV would be able to seat four easily owing to its longer wheelbase.
