After a series of sneak peeks, Hyundai has finally launched the all-new i20 Facelift in India with a price ranging between Rs. 6.99 to 11.01 Lakh (Ex-Showroom). The hatchback brings in exciting cosmetic changes, along with a few feature upgrades, a new colour scheme and a major powertrain change. Here’s everything you need to know about the new i20 facelift.
Hyundai i20 Facelift: Exteriors
The new i20’s changes are largely limited to the soft plastic parts. The first noticeable change is the new internal design of the front grille which now comes with prominent black inserts that go up to headlamps. The headlamps too are updated to full LED units on the top-end trim. The Hyundai logo has also been relocated to the base of the bonnet with a 2D design that looks great. Talking of the front bumper, it gets two arrow-shaped air inlets on either side, with no fog lamp housing.
The overall profile remains largely unchanged other than the new 16-inch alloys. The rear end also gets a few changes that include revised bumpers with dual-tone finishing, a faux skid plate, and repositioned reflectors.
Hyundai has also added a new colour option with the Amazon Grey. This joins the current range of colours, that includes Atlas White, Fiery Red, Titan Grey, Starry Night, and Typhoon Silver along with dual-tone pairings.
Hyundai i20 Facelift: Features and Interiors
On the inside, there are no prominent changes, other than a new black and grey dual-tone dashboard finish and new semi-leatherette upholstery. Other changes include physical knobs at the base of the touch infotainment system replacing the haptic buttons.
In terms of features, the facelift offers revised ambient lighting, puddle lamps with a welcome function, leatherette padding on door armrests, and Hyundai’s new ambient sound feature. Other features include a 10.25-inch touch infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a premium Bose sound system, a single-pane sunroof, auto climate control, wireless charging, connected car technology, voice commands, and Type-C charging ports.
Standard safety onboard includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and ESC, three-point seatbelts, hill assist, reverse parking camera, automatic headlamps, and TPMS etc. Warranty on offer is 3 years/1,00,000 km with attractive extended warranty plans.
Hyundai i20 Facelift: Engines and Specifications
The biggest change onboard the new i20 lies under the hood. The i20 facelift now comes with a sole 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual/CVT automatic. This marks the end for the peppy 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine on the standard i20 that was offered with either a 6-speed iMT or 7-speed DCT.
But if reports are to be believed, it seems as if Hyundai is reserving the turbocharged petrol engine for the N-line variants that are yet to launch. With this Hyundai is perhaps creating a stronger line of distinction between the regular i20 and the N-line trims. Nonetheless, the Hyundai i20 facelift will continue to compete with long-term rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza.
Hyundai i20 Facelift: Trims and Price
In terms of trims on offer, the Hyundai i20 facelift will be offered in the Era, Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O) trims. Here’s a detailed price breakup of each segment.
Hyundai i20 Facelift Price Breakup (Ex-Showroom)
ERA | MAGNA | SPORTZ | ASTA | ASTA (O)
Petrol MT | Rs. 6.99 Lakh | Rs. 7.70 Lakh | Rs. 8.33 Lakh | Rs. 9.29 Lakh | Rs. 9.98 Lakh |
Petrol CVT | Rs. 9.38 Lakh | Rs. 11.01 Lakh |
The new Hyundai i20 introduces the Era variant as the base variant for the premium hatchback. While the base variant reduces the starting price of the i20 by Rs. 47,000, the existing variants see an increase of Rs. 20,000-27,000, thanks to the addition of new features.
