Following close on the heels of the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda has launched the updated Amaze at a starting price of Rs. 7.99 lakh. Like its Maruti rival, the new Honda Amaze has received significant exterior and interior updates. The new Amaze adopts Honda’s new global design language while also debuting the Japanese brand’s new interior style. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Honda Amaze.
Key Highlights
- New exterior and interior revision
- Same 1.2-litre petrol engine as outgoing model
- Segment-first Level 2 ADAS suite
New Honda Amaze Exterior
The new Honda Amaze looks fresh and familiar at the same time. While the silhouette and dimensions remain the same as the previous generation Amaze, the front and the rear have received significant updates, generously borrowing from its larger siblings. On the front, the new Amaze borrows the large grille and headlight design from the Honda Elevate. The new design gives the Amaze more road presence than the previous generation. The rear on the other hand borrows from the Honda City, featuring a sleek rear tail light setup that helps make the Amaze feel wider from the outside. Overall, the new Amaze builds on the sharp looks of its predecessor and adopts a more modern design in its fight against the new Dzire.
New Honda Amaze Interior
The spacious interior of the previous gen Amaze has been further improved with significant updates in this iteration. The utilitarian design of the previous gen Amaze has been replaced wiht a more stylish aesthetic, taking a page from the Elevate. The new Amaze gets a free-standing 8-inch infotainment touchscreen display and climate control layout similar to the Elevate. The dashboard debuts Honda’s interior design seen on Honda’s global models. One key feature that is missing on the new Amaze is a sunroof, a feature that the Dzire possesses at a similar price point. Where the new Amaze shines is with its large 416 litre boot space, that beats its segment rivals and also competes against many compact SUVs as well.
New Honda Amaze Safety Features
The new Honda Amaze further builds on the Japanese manufacturer’s reputation for safety by being the first in its segment to come equipped with Level 2 ADAS suite. The camera-based ADAS features on the new Amaze include lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto high-beam assist among others. Apart from this, the new Amaze also comes equipped with 6 airbags as standard as well as ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS with EBD as standard, hill start assist, and stability control as standard. The new Honda Amaze has not been tested in a GNCAP or BNCAP safety test as of launch.
New Honda Amaze Performance
While the exterior and interior receive significant changes, the powertrain remains the same. The new Amaze is still powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, producing 90 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic. While Honda is not near Maruti’s exceptional mileage figures on the Dzire, the 19.46 kmpl (CVT) and 18.65 kmpl (manual) fuel efficiency figures are respectable.
New Honda Amaze Price
It is clear that Honda is locked in a cutthroat battle with the Maruti Dzire, with the new Amaze starting at Rs. 7.99 lakh and the top variant ZX coming in at Rs. 10.90 lakh. While the Amaze does come in at a premium compared to the Dzire, it justifies its price by being equipped with a smoother powertrain, more premium cabin, and ADAS tech. The base variant of the Amaze also comes better equipped than its competition, with many premium features being standard offering.
New Honda Amaze Competitors
The new Honda Amaze continues its fight in the compact sedan space. Apart from the Maruti Dzire, it also goes up against the Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. Honda is the outlier in this segment, being the only compact sedan not to be offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit. With ADAS tech now on offer, the new Amaze can position itself as a more premium option compared to its rivals. Whether this will be enough to drive sales in 2025 and beyond remains need to be seen.
