Honda’s new SUV has been creating buzz in the market for quite a while and as per the latest updates, it is all set to make its global debut on June 6, 2023. Codenamed ‘3US’, the new Honda SUV will go on sale in August, first in India and then in other markets. With this new mid-size SUV, Honda will participate in the heated contest which is currently being led by the Hyundai Creta, and also saw Citroen join the fight. Here is what you can expect from the new Honda SUV.
New Honda SUV: Design
From the spy shots, the Honda 3US is nothing like the Honda BR-V, which was a mix of MUV and SUV elements, or the WR-V compact SUV. Instead, it is an all-new ground up mid-size SUV with dedicated SUV design elements. Sharing its platform with the Honda City, the Honda 3US will measure around 4,200 – 4,300 mm in length and offer a long wheelbase. Along with roof rails and the sunroof, the test mule gives away an upright nose and sharp headlamps that largely cue the Honda HR-V sold overseas. On the sides, chunky cladding, muscular wheel arches, and a heavy dose of chrome can be expected. Also, there is a prominent shoulder line, a sloping roofline, squared-off wheel arches, and cameras attached to the wing mirrors indicating the possibility of a 360-degree camera or Honda’s Lane Watch system. On the rear, the taillamps are inspired by the Honda HR-V.
New Honda SUV: Engine and Transmission
Under the hood, the Honda 3US will pack the same 1.5-litre petrol engine which powers the Honda City. This 1.5-litre petrol unit is most likely to be the only engine on offer at launch while a strong-hybrid set can be expected to join later. For transmission, Honda’s new SUV will offer a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic.
New Honda SUV: Price and Launch
While it will make its global debut on June 6, 2023, the new Honda SUV will go on sale only in August 2023. Honda is likely to price it at slightly higher than its rivals, around Rs 12 lakh-19 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect more details to be revealed closer to the SUV’s global debut.
