- Expected to be wider and longer than its predecessor
- 7,8 and 9 seating options expected
- Engine options to include a 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel powertrains
The launch of the Mahindra Scorpio is getting closer as the new SUV has been spotted on the sets of a TV commercial shoot. From the shots we can garner that the new Scorpio will receive a major overhaul over its predecessor. It is wider and longer, suggesting that the new Scorpio could be a 7, 8 or 9-seater.
The new Mahindra Scorpio receives a reprofiled bumper that houses new LED fog lamps with C-shaped enclosures and a large bash plate to give the SUV a tough stance. The new grille looks similar to the XUV700, while chrome bits add to the premium look. On the side the Scorpio looks smooth and clean with flared wheel arches and meaty tyres with new alloy design. While not much detail could be garnered for the rear, it is anticipated that it would be more on the lines of the XUV 700.
There is a major interior design change on the new Scorpio that seems to be built on the lines of the XUV series. The new Scorpio is expected to have a dual tone premium upholstery, a new dashboard, a large touchscreen infotainment along with an electric sunroof and a new sound system. The new Scorpio is also touted to have a stronger chassis to make it safer. In line with Mahindra’s current focus on safety, the new Scorpio could be equipped with up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD as standard, and could feature the same ADAS features as the XUV700 on the higher trims.
The new Mahindra Scorpio will also feature all new diesel and petrol engines. The latter will be a new addition as the previous variants were only diesel. The powertrains are expected to be 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0 litre petrol engines mated to manual and automatic transmission along with four wheel drive option for top end variants.
