Maruti Suzuki has launched the all-new Maruti Dzire at the starting price of Rs 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the fourth generation Maruti Dzire and the first time the compact sedan looks significantly different from the Swift. For all that’s been updated and added to the new Maruti Dzire, it’s clear that the Indo-Japanese auto giant has gone all nine yards capitalising on the already established dominance of the Dzire – one of the best-selling cars. Here is everything about the 2024 Maruti Dzire.
New Maruti Dzire: Dimensions and Design
The new Dzire is 3,995 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,525 mm tall, has a 2,450mm wheelbase and a 163 mm ground clearance. As compared to the outgoing Dzire, the new Dzire is almost identical in terms of size. However, design is where Maruti has made significant changes. The new Dzire looks stunning and vastly superior to the outgoing model, and unlike the previous generation, the new model looks nothing like the Maruti Swift.
The face of the new Dzire features a flat hood with tapering creases near the edges. The sharp headlamps with crystal-like elements and blacked-out housing are reminiscent of the headlamps of many Audi cars. The hexagonal grille is larger than before and features six horizontal slats, with the top one finished in piano black. On the side, the new Dzire gets a gently sloping roofline, subtly rising shoulder line, and new diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the rear, the new Dzire features squarish wrap-around tail lamps with tri-arrow LED elements. However, the boot design is nearly the same as the one on the outgoing model.
New Maruti Dzire: Interior and Features
Unlike the exterior, the interior of the new Maruti Dzire mirrors the interior of the Maruti Swift. While the dashboard is the same as that of the Maruti Swift, it gets a 4-tone colour scheme instead of the black and silver shade of the Swift’s dashboard. What’s also shared with the Swift are the steering wheel, analogue dials on the instrument cluster, HVAC panel, and AC vents. In the feature department, Maruti has surprised everyone by offering a segment-first sunroof. In addition to the sunroof, the new Dzire offers a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control with rear vents, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, and others.
On the safety front, the new Dzire offers six airbags as standard, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, rear parking sensors, and a segment-first 360-degree camera.
New Maruti Dzire: Safety Rating
Passenger safety is where the new Maruti Dzire can prove to be a game changing car as it has scored a full 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crashworthiness test. This makes it the safest Maruti car and the first Maruti car ever to score a full 5-star G-NCAP rating. It also shows that Maruti Suzuki has been paying attention to the feedback it has been receiving regarding the safety quotient of its cars and the growing demand for safer cars.
New Maruti Dzire: Engine and Transmission
Sharing its powertrains with the Maruti Swift, the new Maruti Dzire brings the same Z12E three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. For the petrol version this engine generates 82 PS power and 112 Nm torque, whereas for the CNG variants, it produces 70 PS power and 102 Nm torque.
