Nissan is continuing its comeback in India with the much-anticipated launch of its premium SUV, the X-Trail, after a decade-long wait. Instead of building the SUV in India, Nissan will be importing the X-Trail as a completely built unit (CBU). While this does mean the Nissan X-Trail will be available in limited numbers, it allows Nissan to position the SUV as a more premium product. While official prices are yet to be revealed, Nissan has unveiled the India-spec X-Trail. Alongside the Magnite, this will be Nissan’s second entry in the SUV segment in India. Unlike its overseas variants, the X-Trail in India will be available exclusively as a three-row, seven-seater SUV.

The X-Trail for India will be available in three colour options: Diamond Black, Champagne Silver, and Pearl White, emphasising its premium appeal. The SUV features a dual-pane sunroof and a distinctive design with an upright, squared-out look, a split-headlamp setup, a ‘V-Motion’ grille finished in dark chrome, and 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. It measures 4,680mm in length, 1,840mm in width, 1,725mm in height, and has a 2,705mm-long wheelbase. The X-Trail boasts a 210mm of ground clearance, which complements the body cladding, and wraparound LED tail-lamps to add to its robust and stylish exterior. The SUV’s doors open at an 85-degree angle, facilitating easy ingress and egress.

Other notable features include drive modes, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, and cruise control. The interior boasts a sophisticated brown and black dual-tone theme with fabric seats. Additionally, the India-spec model comes equipped with a 360-degree camera and paddle shifters. The second row offers 40/20/40 split-folding, sliding, and reclining functions, while the third row features 50/50 split-folding and reclining functions for added versatility. Nissan X-Trail: Price & Rivals

As the X-Trail will be imported as a CBU, its prices are expected to be in the Rs 40 lakh-45 lakh range. This pricing positions it against competitors such as the Toyota Fortuner, its Legender derivative, the Skoda Kodiaq, the MG Gloster, and the Jeep Meridian. The X-Trail is set to rival these established models with its premium features and advanced technology, marking Nissan’s strong return to the Indian SUV market.
