Sachin Tendulkar. A legend on and off the cricket field, with a career spanning 24 years. His skills with the bat have taken India to many victories and inspired Indians for years. While his batting prowess is well-known, many may not be familiar with Sachin’s love for cars. The passion started in his childhood, and he has been an avid car collector for long, collecting some of the most iconic cars and boasting a garage that many car enthusiasts dream of. With this in mind, let’s take a look at the cars, past, and present, that have found a place in Sachin’s garage.
Maruti 800
We will get to the BMWs, Porsches, and Ferraris in Sachin’s collection soon, but let’s start with the one that started it all: a Bayers Blue Maruti 800. The humble Maruti 800 hatchback was Sachin’s first car and was a realization of a childhood passion of seeing cars from his balcony. Having sold it, he wished to reunite with his first car. A wish that Spinny helped realize with a fully restored Bayers Blue Maruti 800.
BMW i8
The BMW i8 is one of the many BMWs in his garage. A prized possession, Sachin’s i8 has a custom red colour and a wide body kit modification by DC Designs. With 357 BHP on tap, the i8 has more than enough power to thrill the man who thrilled millions with his performances.
BMW 7-Series 760 Li
Sachin’s BMW 760Li is one beast of a machine: it’s mean and clean all at the same time. Sachin’s customized BMW individual 760 Li features Sachin Tendulkar’s ST insignia on headrests, inside steps, dashboard, and gear knob. It is powered by a 6.5 L V12 Twin-turbo engine that generates a monstrous 601 bhp on tap. Another feature of this car is its all-wheel steering function, which makes this premium sedan easily maneuverable in the tightest of turns. Much like our Sachin finding the smallest of gaps and guiding the ball through it to victory.
BMW M6 Gran Coupe
Stylish and powerful like the master blaster is his M6 Gran Coupe. The car is special because it was the first one in India and found a place in Sachin’s garage. Another unique feature of the car is its rare ‘frozen silver’ paint shade, which is only available internationally.
The Gran Coupe has a beastly power output of 500+ hp and 650 Nm of torque. So, if you see a silver streak roaring down the roads in Mumbai you know it’s Sachin.
BMW M5 30 Jahre
The BMW M5 30 Jahre is one of the fastest cars in Sachin’s garage and India’s only one. The M5 Jahre, which has only 300 units worldwide, was made to mark 30 years of M5, and modeled on the fifth-gen F10 model. Powered by a 4.4-L V8 engine that generates 600 hp of power, the Jahre is scarily fast and can reach 0 to 100 km/h in under four seconds.
BMW X5 M50d
The BMW X5 M50d found its way to India only because of the Master Blaster. This variant of the BMW was never sold in India and was imported for the little master. The BMW X5 M50d is a huge muscular SUV complete with leather seats, leather trims on the dash, and the M badging almost everywhere. A triple turbocharged six-cylinder inline engine sits under this beast’s hood producing 400 PS of power and 760 Nm of torque.
Porsche 911 Turbo S
A Porsche 911 Turbo S in Sachin’s garage is testimony to his love for cars. The black Porsche 911 Turbo S compared to its earlier version that Sachin owned is more powerful and is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder petrol engine that generates a power of 650 PS and a torque of 800 Nm. The engine comes with an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission and gives a speed of 330 kmph and can reach 10 kmph in less than 3 seconds.
Ferrari 360 Modena
Sachin was also a proud owner of the Ferrari 360 Modena that was gifted by the Fiat fraternity for his record breaking performance after he went past Sir Don Bradman’s record of 29 Test Hundreds. The car was all the more special as it was handed to him by the F1 legend Michael Schumacher.
Volvo S80
Sachin Tendulkar was awarded the Volvo S80 by Volvo India when he won the Man of the Series award against South Africa back in 2010 for hammering 200 runs in an ODI. The S80 is one of the most luxurious and comfortable sedans ever made. At that time it was Volvo’s flagship car and came with a twin-turbo diesel engine that made 205 bhp of power and 420 Nm of torque.
