Tata pioneered the EV space in India which kick-started with the Nexon EV. The Indian brand also offers the Tiago/Tigor EV while the Punch EV will also break cover soon. But Tata is now eyeing the luxury EV space which is growing in India with various international players set to launch multiple models. As a part of that, Tata has unveiled the Harrier EV in a near-production guise that is slated for a 2023 launch. Tata has also unveiled 3 other all-electric concepts – Sierra EV, Curvv ICE concept, and the Avinya concept.
Tata Harrier EV Specifications
The SUV will be based on the Land-Rover-based OMEGA-Arc platform and will feature an AWD layout. Similar to the Nexon EV, the Harrier EV will also feature a modified ICE platform to accommodate the EV powertrain instead of a fully ground-up EV platform. There will be two motors for each axle producing adequate power and torque output.
Although Tata is keeping technical details close to its heart, we can expect a maximum driving range of over 400 km. Furthermore, the SUV is also expected to feature vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities.
Tata Harrier EV Styling
It is unmistakably a Harrier with butch looks and silhouette but the similarities end there. There’s an EV-specific front-end bumper with a closed-off grille, a LED light bar and sleeker headlamps. The side profile looks more or less similar to the standard Harrier but it does get some EV touches such as new badges and wheels. Coming to the rear, there are redesigned tail lamps with a light bar running across the tailgate. The rear bumper design is also unique with some neat touches and side pods/vents.
Although the Harrier EV showcased at the expo is technically a concept, it is more a production-ready version so most of the design bits should ideally be carried on when the SUV gets officially launched in India.
The cabin is also expected to host updates in the form of a larger touchscreen and more kit such as connected car tech and ADAS-based features since both of these are becoming the norm today.
Tata Harrier EV Expected Price And Launch Date
The Tata Harrier EV is expected to be launched by the end of 2023 with prices hovering around the Rs 30 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It will take on rival all-electric SUVs from Mahindra such as the XUV.E8. Apart from that, the Harrier EV will also compete with the BYD Atto 3 in terms of pricing.
