Toyota has launched the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor at the starting price of Rs 7.74 – 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom). Essentially the Toyota’s version of the Maruti Fronx, the Toyota Taisor is the sixth car from the Toyota Maruti alliance and the most affordable Toyota SUV in India. Since the Maruti Fronx which was launched last year, has been a massive success, let’s take a closer look at what the Toyota Taisor has to offer.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: Design
Based on the Maruti Fronx, the Taisor has the same dimensions and is nearly identical to it as far as design is concerned. However, there are some cosmetic updates such as a new front grille with a honeycomb pattern and a slightly redesigned front bumper. Moreover, the LED DRLs are linear parallel strips instead of the three-cube design on the Fronx, while the side profile highlights new alloy wheels. At the rear, the tweaked tail lamps are connected via an LED bar.
The colour options available with the Toyota Taisor are Cafe White, Enticing Silver, Sportin Red, Lucent Orange, and Gaming Grey. The former three can also be had with a blacked-out roof.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: Interior & Features
Except for the Toyota badge on the steering wheel, the interior of the Toyota Taisor looks the same as that of the Maruti Fronx. It even has an identical dual-tone black and maroon theme. Carrying forward the feature list from the Fronx, the Taisor is equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, a head-up display, ambient lighting, semi-digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, smartwatch connectivity, and others.
In terms of safety features the Taisor is equipped with six airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: Engine & Transmission
Sharing its powertrains with the Maruti Fronx, the Taisor is equipped with the same engine and transmission options. A 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine which produces 90 PS power and 113 Nm torque is mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. Moreover, a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine which churns out 100 PS power and 148 Nm torque is paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The CNG variants of the Taisor are available with the naturally aspirated petrol engine coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission.
