However, Hyundai has been able to stand out with its variety of SUVs starting from the Venue to its new entry in the 7-seater segment, the Alcazar. Already holding a formidable position in this segment, Hyundai is planning to launch several new SUVs in the market with many of them being electric, in part of its plan to launch 7 new EVs in the Indian market. Here are the upcoming Hyundai SUVs in India –

Hyundai Kona EV

Hyundai-Kona-Facelift-auto-expo-2023

The Hyundai Kona was launched in India with much anticipation, however it couldn’t perform to its expectations, mainly due to its high price and a developing EV market. But, with time, the Indian audience has grown to the EV cars and Hyundai is planning to launch its most successful EV with a facelift in 2023.

The facelift will feature changes on the outside and is expected to boast a completely redesigned front fascia, featuring a sleek closed grille, new DRLs, sharper headlamps, and a revamped rear bumper, complete with horizontally-stretched rear lamps as seen on the global version. In terms of dimensions, the new model is 40mm longer, primarily due to the redesigned bumpers. Additionally, the electric SUV comes equipped with a larger and improved 10.25-inch digital instrument console and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing its older rather dated dashboard.

While globally the Kona EV is available with two battery packs: a 64kWh and a 39.2kWh battery, with the larger battery pack providing an impressive 484 km range and 204 PS of power over the 305 km and 136 PS of the smaller pack it’s still not clear which pack the Indian market will get. Nevertheless, being an electric car with instant torque available, both battery pack options would suffice for Indian conditions, especially with the already impressive 7 seconds 0-100 km/h figure of the outgoing Kona.

Hyundai Kona 2023 Expected Specs:

  • Engine: 64kWh/39.2kWh battery
  • Transmission: Single-Speed Automatic
  • Fuel economy: Not Known
  • Airbags: 6
  • Fuel Type: Electric
  • Seating Capacity: 5
  • Body Type: Compact SUV

Hyundai Palisade

Palisade

The Palisade is a premium SUV from Hyundai that has already been launched in international markets and is expected to be the company’s flagship model in India. The SUV is built on the same platform as the Kia Telluride and is likely to compete with the likes of the MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq. It could be the largest non-luxurious SUV on sale in India measuring over 4.9 meters in length!

Globally, the Hyundai Palisade is available with a 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine where the petrol engine produces 291 PS and 355 Nm of torque, and the diesel engine produces 200 PS and 441 Nm of torque. The SUV comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox with a multi-plate torque converter and is available in both 2-wheel-drive and HTRAC 4-wheel-drive options. The Indian market is yet to receive any official confirmation about the powertrain details, but it’s highly unlikely that the V6 would make it to India. When launched the Palisade is likely to be priced over 40 lakh and could be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. As the priciest Hyundai on sale in India, the Palisade could potentially change the trend of expensive Hyundai models struggling to find favour with Indian audiences.

Hyundai Palisade Key Specs:

  • Engine: 3.8L Petrol V6/2.2L turbo diesel
  • Transmission: 8-speed automatic
  • Fuel economy: 9/13.3 km/l

  • Seating Capacity: 7
  • Body Type: SUV

Moving on the list is the Creta facelift. The Creta has always been Hyundai’s apple of the eye in its SUV endeavours and now the Indian market is finally expected to get the Creta facelift after more than 3 years of waiting.

This compact SUV will undergo some impressive updates that are sure to turn heads on the road. The front fascia will boast a striking Parametric Jewel grille with integrated daytime running lights, while the rear will feature redesigned tailgate boomerang-shaped LED lights in line with the new bold and sport design language of Hyundai. Step inside the cabin, and one would be greeted by a dual-tone dashboard exuding luxury and elegance. The touchscreen infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster keep you connected and informed while on the go. Hyundai will place emphasized safety with the Creta, and will equip it with advanced features such as Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-spot Collision-avoidance Assist, and Rear Cross-traffic Collision-avoidance Assist. The SUV also comes with a rearview camera and six airbags, providing peace of mind for you and your passengers.

Under the hood, the Creta will remain mechanically unchanged and will pack the same 1.5-litre petrol engine, 1.4-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to either a 6-speed manual, 7-speed DCT, 6-speed Torque converter or 6-speed IVT transmission.

Hyundai Creta Facelift 2023 Key Specs:

Hyundai AI3 Small SUV

Hyundai-Ai3-auto-expo-2023

Hyundai is preparing to take on the micro-SUV segment which has been dominated by the Tata Punch for a while now. Codenamed “AI3”, Hyundai is expected to launch this in September 2023. From spy shots, it has been extracted that the AI3 will feature Hyundai’s recent design theme with the front fascia featuring DRLs at the top of the bonnet and main headlights located on the bumper below. The wheel arches are chunky, giving it a SUV-like stance, while the blacked-out side pillars add a touch of sophistication. The rear taillights are sharp, giving the car a sleek and contemporary look.

Based on the same platform as the Grand i10 Nios hatchback, the Ai3 will offer ample space inside the cabin with an expected dimension of around 3.8 meters and a wheelbase of approximately 2.45 meters. As a Hyundai vehicle, the Ai3 will also come packed with the latest tech and convenience features, including a touchscreen infotainment screen and connected car technology. Under the hood, the Ai3 is expected to offer the same powertrain options as the Grand i10 Nios, including a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine, with power outputs of 83 PS and 113 Nm and 100 PS and 172 Nm respectively. You can choose from a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox, but unfortunately, there will most likely be no diesel engine option available. Set to rival the Tata Punch, the Hyundai Ai3 promises to be an impressive micro SUV, perfect for those seeking a combination of style, functionality, and the latest technology.

Hyundai AI3 Key Specs:

  • Engine: 1.2L Petrol/ 1.0L turbo Petrol
  • Transmission: 5-Speed Manual/ AMT
  • Fuel economy: Not Known
  • Airbags: Not Known
  • Fuel Type: Petrol/Diesel
  • Seating Capacity: 5
  • Body Type: Micro SUV

Summary

In conclusion, Hyundai is gearing up to launch several exciting new SUVs in the coming years, and each one brings something unique to the table. The upcoming Hyundai SUVs are set to bring an exciting wave of innovation and performance to the SUV market. With a range of models catering to different needs, from the compact Kona to the three-row Palisade, Hyundai is poised to take on its rivals and solidify its already leading position as a top player in the automotive industry.
