Hyundai Kona EV
The Hyundai Kona was launched in India with much anticipation, however it couldn’t perform to its expectations, mainly due to its high price and a developing EV market. But, with time, the Indian audience has grown to the EV cars and Hyundai is planning to launch its most successful EV with a facelift in 2023.
The facelift will feature changes on the outside and is expected to boast a completely redesigned front fascia, featuring a sleek closed grille, new DRLs, sharper headlamps, and a revamped rear bumper, complete with horizontally-stretched rear lamps as seen on the global version. In terms of dimensions, the new model is 40mm longer, primarily due to the redesigned bumpers. Additionally, the electric SUV comes equipped with a larger and improved 10.25-inch digital instrument console and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing its older rather dated dashboard.
While globally the Kona EV is available with two battery packs: a 64kWh and a 39.2kWh battery, with the larger battery pack providing an impressive 484 km range and 204 PS of power over the 305 km and 136 PS of the smaller pack it’s still not clear which pack the Indian market will get. Nevertheless, being an electric car with instant torque available, both battery pack options would suffice for Indian conditions, especially with the already impressive 7 seconds 0-100 km/h figure of the outgoing Kona.

It could be the largest non-luxurious SUV on sale in India measuring over 4.9 meters in length!
Globally, the Hyundai Palisade is available with a 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine where the petrol engine produces 291 PS and 355 Nm of torque, and the diesel engine produces 200 PS and 441 Nm of torque. The SUV comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox with a multi-plate torque converter and is available in both 2-wheel-drive and HTRAC 4-wheel-drive options. The Indian market is yet to receive any official confirmation about the powertrain details, but it’s highly unlikely that the V6 would make it to India. When launched the Palisade is likely to be priced over 40 lakh and could be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. As the priciest Hyundai on sale in India, the Palisade could potentially change the trend of expensive Hyundai models struggling to find favour with Indian audiences.
