Maruti Jimny
The spiritual successor for the age-old classic off-roader, Gypsy, this upcoming Maruti car was already in production in India, albeit only for export to the international market. This off-roader from Maruti has taken design aspects from all its previous generations and made it its own. This will be the 5-door version of the current car, specifically made for the Indian market to go toe-to-toe with the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-Door. The upcoming Maruti off-roader might house a 1.5L petrol engine producing 103 PS and 137 Nm of torque which will feature a 6-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual. Apart from this, it is rumoured to feature hybrid technology as well. The car is rumoured to feature a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system (from the new generation Baleno and Brezza) with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, automatic climate control and a 360-degree camera. While passenger safety will be taken care of by six airbags, ABS, EBD and rear parking sensors.
This upcoming Maruti car is expected to launch in January 2023 with a price tag of Rs 10 lakh. This makes it undercut its main rival – the Thar. With the reduced starting price tag, it’s likely to appeal to a wider audience and will be more mass-market.

Maruti Swift Hybrid (Maruti Swift fourth generation)
The Swift Hybrid was one of the few upcoming Maruti cars that were first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. However, this car will be only released in the international market. The Indian market will receive the fourth generation Swift in 2023.
The generation four Swift has been spied testing on public roads abroad. It seems to have gone back to its first-generation roots with its side profile and a more conventional location of the rear doors. This will also share a few features like the 9-inch touchscreen and heads-up display from the facelifted Baleno. Cruise control and auto AC are to be retained from the existing model. The car may offer up to six airbags, ESP, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The Indian spec of this upcoming Maruti car will come with the same 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine producing 90hp with the same hybrid setup as that of the Swift hybrid. It will share this setup with a few of the upcoming Maruti cars. This will also be offered with a standard 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed automatic. The car is also rumoured to debut at the 2023 Auto Expo with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Renault Triber being its only direct competitors.

Maruti Baleno SUV
While the name of this upcoming Maruti car isn’t final, this car is one of the most heavily spied on upcoming Maruti cars. From what’s been observed, the car looks to have a front profile of the Grand Vitara and will be a coupe-style SUV based on the Baleno. This will be one of the most unique designs among the upcoming Maruti cars and will likely house a 1L turbo petrol engine, producing around 100hp. It will have manual and AMT options and will be NEXA’s answer to the compact SUVs of the likes of Hyundai Venue. It is said that this car will be in the Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh price range. This car debuts at the 2023 Auto Expo, along with a few other upcoming Maruti cars.
Maruti XL5
This is one of the few upcoming Maruti cars to be spotted ever since 2020. From what is observed, it seems to be the premium alternative to the WagonR and is to be sold in the NEXA showrooms. It can be a replacement for the Ignis, and Maruti might make it a more mainstream option by providing more conventional looks (as opposed to the funky exterior of the Ignis). The car will share the same 1.2L petrol engine found in the upcoming Maruti cars. It is expected to get premium features like LED headlamps with DRLs, auto AC and bigger wheels over the WagonR. Just like the other upcoming Maruti cars, it will ship with more premium upholstery than the WagonR along with features like automatic climate control, LED headlamps and push-button start-stop. The Maruti XL5 will compete against Maruti Ignis and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
