When it comes to best-selling cars, compact SUVs are the hottest. Year after year, compact SUVs have proven their worth thanks to their affordable price tag, high practicality, peppy powertrains and assertive road presence. But, despite numerous options available in this segment, only a few have achieved unparalleled success. The Hyundai Venue is one of them.

Launched in 2019, the Venue quickly rose to become one of the best-selling compact SUVs, selling 70,443 units in just eight months of its launch. With over 3 lakh units sold to date and a facelift launched in 2022, the current generation Hyundai Venue has evolved as per market needs, making it an irresistible option in the segment. Winning the prestigious Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) award in 2020, there’s something about the Venue that makes us all fall in love with it. If you’re wondering what it is, then here’s what makes the Venue a true star.

Looks That Can Turn Heads

Great looks and timeless style. That’s what defines the Hyundai Venue’s stylish appearance. It features Hyundai’s latest design language, with modern looks intelligently infused with elegance. While the first generation of the Venue was itself a good-looking car, the overall feel of the SUV back then was more sporty and a little less elegant.

With its current generation, the Hyundai Venue brings a futuristic yet sporty look, featuring a blackened grille infused with a square chrome pattern. On either side of the grille are stylish turn indicators, below which are the LED projector headlamps with surrounding LED DRLs. There’s also a front skid plate that adds to its sporty appeal, while the rear is adorned with a premium connecting LED tail lamp. To make things more premium, the Venue also offers shiny new diamond-cut alloys and a puddle lamp function.

Overall, the Venue comes forth as a great looking compact SUV with a lot to offer. It’s sporty, muscular, elegant and good-looking. And with a large glass area up front, the SUV feels big and offers a strong road presence. With 195 mm of ground clearance, the Venue can take on all kinds of roads with ease. And for those who want more, there’s also an N-Line up for grabs that brings in several sporty enhancements for extra oomph.

Interiors That Impress

When the Venue was first launched, it was pitched as an SUV that offered a host of premium features and a cabin that was an experience in itself. While the Seltos is often considered the most feature-packed compact SUV, it was the Hyundai Venue that actually started the trend, bringing in features like an electric sunroof, connected car technology, an 8-inch touch infotainment system, automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start and much more.

Now with its second generation, the Venue has taken the bar up with several segment-first features such as puddle lamps, a two-step rear reclining rear seat, and Home-to-Car (H2C) with Alexa and Google Voice Assistant. Other features onboard include a smarter electric sunroof, ambient lighting, digital instrument cluster along with Type-C chargers, a four-way adjustable electric driver seat, and multiple regional languages support for the touch infotainment with ambient sounds of nature. All this comes in addition to the 60+ Bluelink features the Venue continues to offer.

The Venue has a well-laid-out cabin with practical storage spaces intelligently infused at several places. Both the front and rear passengers have ample space to relax, and there’s even an air purifier onboard. Overall, the Hyundai Venue offers exciting interiors and a rich cabin that can instantly make you fall in love with it. No matter which variant of the SUV you pick, you’ll be amazed by the offerings, considering its price tag that makes the Hyundai Venue one of the most value-for-money cars in its segment.

Exhilarating Powertrains

Ever since the Venue hit the market, its capable powertrain has been one of its strongest suits. Packing a real punch inside, the Venue offers great driving dynamics. The ride and handling of the Venue are absolutely superb. Even at high speeds, the Venue is stable and inculcates a sense of confidence.

All this is achieved with its highly refined and capable powertrain that is diverse in every sense. Offering three powertrains to choose from, the Venue comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a larger 1.5-litre diesel engine. No matter which powertrain you choose, all three offer great refinement. And in its latest generation, the Hyundai Venue also brings in three driving modes so that you can get the best in terms of everything.

Capable Transmissions

In addition to exhilarating powertrains, what works in favour of the Venue are the equally exciting transmission options tastefully mated to its engines. These include a 6-speed clutchless manual iMT and a 7-speed DCT automatic with the turbocharged engine that delivers a seamless performance. For the 1.2 litre petrol, a 5-speed manual is on offer while for the diesel engine, a 6-speed manual is what you get. Each transmission is carefully mated to its corresponding engine to offer the best in terms of overall performance. Even in terms of mileage, the Venue shines with DCT trims returning up to 18 km/l of mileage, diesel manual returning up to 23.4 km/l and petrol manual trims returning up to 17.5 km/l.

Redefined Safety

With safety now being an integral decision-maker for millions of consumers, the Indian market is no more just an efficiency-oriented market. Staying abreast with the changing trends, the Hyundai Venue has always been an SUV to offer ample safety features onboard. In its first generation, the Venue offered up to 4 airbags, ABS with EBD, a child seat anchor point, an electronic stability program, hill hold control, keyless entry and much more.

But with its second generation, the Hyundai Venue has redefined safety with additional features that include up to 6 airbags including driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags, as well as brake assist, vehicle stability management, TPMS, rear parking sensors and camera.

The Trust Of Hyundai

As India’s second-largest carmaker, Hyundai is a name that stands for transparency, trust and commitment. With a nationwide sales and service network, the Hyundai Venue boasts the trust of Hyundai. With 3 years of unlimited kilometres warranty, 5 years of running repair and maintenance package along with 3 years of Bluelink subscription, the Hyundai Venue offers absolute peace of mind. The Hyundai Venue Petrol also boasts the lowest cost of maintenance in its segment, making it a cost-effective compact SUV with unparalleled value.  Being a Hyundai car, the Venue even offers a higher resale value than other compact SUVs in the segment.

Summary

A huge part of Hyundai’s success in India, the Hyundai Venue is popular, capable, exciting and practical. Since its launch in 2019, Venue has managed to gain a strong position for itself in the market. A continuous best-seller over the years, the Venue with its impressive looks, premium interiors, exhilarating performance and capable automatics has been ruling the hearts of over three lakh Indians. With several reasons to fall in love with the Hyundai Venue, it was and continues to be one of India’s best compact SUVs to ever hit the market.
