The Tata Nexon EV measures 3,994 mm in length, 1,811 mm in width, and 1,616 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at a healthy 2,498 mm. When you look at the Nexon EV’s competition, which is the Mahindra XUV400, the Nexon EV falls behind in all aspects. However, when it comes to the real world application, the Nexon EV’s size is perfect for a family of four. Another important factor keeping Indian conditions in mind is the ground clearance. In the Nexon EV’s case, the long range battery pack has a ground clearance of 190 mm, whereas the medium range battery pack has a ground clearance of 205 mm. Both variants pack in a healthy ground clearance keeping in mind the mixed driving conditions that we often encounter in India. As for the powertrain of the Nexon EV, the medium range and long range versions have different specifications. The medium range variant packs in a single Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor which is capable of making 129 PS of maximum power and 215 Nm of peak torque. It draws current from a 30 kWh battery pack and according to the MIDC cycle, it has a maximum range of 325 km. This package is capable of propelling the Nexon EV from 0 - 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds. To charge the battery, there are three options to choose from. A 3.3 kW AC wall box charger that is supplied with the car can top it from 10 - 100 percent in 10.5 hours. If you use a 7.2 kW AC wall box charger, that time can be cut down to 4.3 hours. As for DC fast charging, the Nexon EV can go from 10 to 80 percent in just 56 minutes. Coming on to the long range version, it too packs in a single Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor but in this case, it’s maximum power output is rated at 145 PS, whereas the torque rating stays the same at 215 Nm, resulting in a 0 -100 km/h time of 8.9 seconds. The MIDC range for the long range version stands at 465 km and as far as charging goes, it can go from 10 - 100 percent in 15 hours when using the 3.3 kW AC charger, and that time can be brought down to just 6 hours by using a 7.2 kW charger. The DC charging time remains the same.
